Thumbs up ADPi Pin Information!

There may have been another thread on this, but after checking back about 5 pages, I decided to just start a new one.

What type of pin do you have?
What type of pin would you love to acquire?
Any fun Alpha Delta Pi pin facts you'd like to share?

I have nothing really exciting to share, other than what I've already shared. I have four pins:
1) My initiation pin, white gold, minature (3 pearls between each point), sapphire points, plain guard. Problem is, I never were white gold anymore!
2) Yellow gold, minature, all pearls, unattached chased guard, circa 1980. (We were told to take off the guard when we became Alumnae. I think that was bad information.)
3) Yellow gold, minature, pearls with ruby points, made into a ring (which I need to get sized!). Don't know the year.
4) Yellow gold, plain setting, raised hands (this is the first time I've seen those!), no guard, 1994.

So, I still don't have my "four pearls between points" pin, but it's kinda cool to realize how different they all can be, yet all with the same symbolism - just like Alpha Delta Pis themselves!

Do you have any fun pin facts to share, or want to describe your pin?

Lets see. I have a very plain, the cheapest pin you can get pin because I insisted on getting my own pin when I came in. My parents paid for everything and I wanted to get the pin myself. Later when I became closer to my grandma, who was also an ADPi, I was given her pin she loved. It is an all diamond pin and just gorgeous. I dont wear it much because Im so scared Ill lose it or something, but I break it out for special occassions.

I want a pin that has rubies all over it, but diamonds in the four points or pearls. If I cant get one like that Ill have to settle for garnet, but I want that cause my birthstone is ruby.

Ive won several pins on ebay, but have given them to people I know that dont have pins or people I know who will save them for their diamonds or such.

Not many interesting stories, but once my alpha class wanted to give our chapter something special for initiation as a class present. We decided to go on ebay. I thought maybe an old old pin, but we saw a very old old book that was believed to be Ella Pierce's. We thought this would be a awesome gift so we bid on it. This lady kept outbidding us and outbidding us, so we emailed her and explained how impt it was to us to get this book. Well it turns out she is a family member of Ellas and also wants this book. She was like a great great great great granddaughter or something of Ellas. We didnt know if we could believe her or not, but we let her win the auction. She in turn donates a beautiful plauque that was very expensive to us to give to the chapter, we call it the Ella Pierce Turner award and Alpha classes give it to a Delta for a year, someone we look up to and think great things of. This lady still emails me and asks if I need anymore money for the plaque or any new things. She is a very nice lady and I did learn she was for real on being family with Ella, so it was a great story to tell the chapter when we started the award.

I have two pins:

1) the "poverty pin" that I was initiated in, and
2) the "classy" pin that I got for myself when I decided to assist my chapter of initiation (now closed) and be part of one of the local alumnae orgs. This second pin is gold, with pearls and sapphires alternating, with a plain gold chapter guard. I bought a gold-plated webmaster dangle to go with it since I maintained the chapter website and the all chapters list for a number of years.

I would love to get a pin with opals. I just think they're beautiful. I truly wish that Nationals would offer this option! I think I'd only be able to get one off of ebay, and with two pins already, I just don't see the need to spend the money.

1) I have a white gold pin, alternating amethysts and pearls with a white gold guard.

2) I want the all diamond pin in white gold or diamonds with amethyst points. I'm not betting on getting ANY time soon though! Diamonds are my birthstone, so I could justify it!

3) Fun pin fact- not about mine, but... A sister in the Alpha class the year before mine ordered and payed for the all pearl pin. She received (obviously by accident) the all diamond pin. Why can't we all be so lucky???? I'm pretty sure our chapter reported it and they just told her to keep it!

pins

I've got the cheap yellow gold pin, but it is very much loved and was worked hard for. I didn't join ADPi until I was a junior, because I didn't have the funds, not that I really had the funds then either. But I was so excited about becoming an ADPi, I did it anyway. I paid for everything by myself, until the last year when I was in such a bind that I had to ask some sisters for help. I knew my parents wouldn't help out with sorority costs. I always say that I have the greatest sisters in the world, and I do!!! One sister bought my lunch almost an entire semester for me, because I didn't have the money for even that. My ADPi sisters are definately the best in the world!!!

I would love to have the all diamond pin---who wouldn't? They are my birthstone and I would like to have that......but I'm happy with the one that I have.

Last fall, I had the privelege of initiating both of my roommate's Diamond Sisters.....one of my roomies had to work, but gave me her pin to initiate her sis with ahead of time.....the other roomie, at the last minute couldn't make it, so initiated her little sis with my pin, something that I hadn't gotten to do before. Even thought she wasn't my little sister, it was a special time for her and for me both......Weirdest thing----the house that my 2 roomies and I lived in was later inhabited by the girl I initiated, and her big sis! What a story of the ADPi family!!

I have two pins currently:
* The "plain" one that I chose as my pin when I first joined (which has my chapter guard and all my dangles), and
* The aquamarine (?) four points with pearls (3) in between that I won off of ebay, which I wear more now than my original badge.

I would LOVE to some day have a alternating pearl/sapphire or pearl/emerald (the sapphire because I LOVE the color blue, the emerald since it's my birthstone), but that may be way down the line after I start working on a regular basis, get married, etc, etc

No interesting pin facts that I know of

1) My only pin right now is a white gold "plain" one... I paid for all my sorority fees and was a pretty poor college kid when I got initated!

2) I would love love love to own a white gold pin with amethysts (or sapphires) on the points and pearls in between, and a white gold pin with diamonds all around!

It's really hard to pick just one, because I love all our pins

*GASP!*

These "little" things just thrill me to pieces!!! I can remember reading in Sisters that a LOT of Ella's descendents have become Adelpheans/Alpha Delta Pi's, but I forget the exact number. What a fantastic "genealogy"!!

Well I have a yellow gold pin with aquamarine points and pearls inbetween... I love my pin so much... Aquamarine is my birthstone and the pin is blue and white...

As for the pin I want... I would love to find an old turquoise pin... One of the women initiated with me got pinned with her grandmother's adpi pin... it was all turquoise and just looked so neat... It was also just neat, because her grandmother had mailed it to the girl's diamond sister... So she knew nothing about it until she was pinned with it...

That's so cute!! I bet it meant so much to her when she got pinned with her grandmothers pin!

Our chapter had so many legacies this past fall, and it was so beautiful when their mothers were there for initation!!!

See, this is where my chapter got ripped off! We had a 5-generation legacy - but she got initiated at Convention & then she transferred schools!!! I would have LOVED to have seen which of the pins she used (but my money's on the oldest)!!!

Do all of y'all have the raised hands? I used to think that mine were raised, but after receiving my latest (plain) pin, I'm just amazed by HOW raised the clasped hands are now!

Okay I have two pins:

The first is the one I got after I was initiated, the one I ordered. Because I was poor my parents bought it for me as a birthday present. I got the "plain" pin (mine does have the raised hands).

The second is one I won from EBay (thanks to Jennie's mom who was bidding on it for me while Jennie and I were driving to Anaheim to go to Disneyland). The pin is 1915 and belonged to Edie Bovee from Pi chapter. It is the pin with pearls all the way around, (it has four pearls in between the points). It is an absolutely gorgeous pin. No raised hands but just being able to compare it to the pin I got in 1998 is amazing.

As for pins I want, there are actually three:
(I'm copying the descriptions straight from the order form I got from EO with the pictures of the badges)

1. Alternating Pearl with Syn. Sapphires
2. Crown Set Syn. Aquamarines (Aquamarine is my birthstone so maybe I could justify buying this pin for myself as a birthday present).
3. Crown Set Diamonds (If I win the lottery then I will buy myself this one. Or I could just do it on my 25th anniversery of being an ADPi )

As for a guard, I haven't bought a guard yet. I'm not sure when I will or which one I will buy mainly because of the two pins. But when I do buy a guard I would really like to buy the Crown Set Pearl (double letter since I am from DG).

And I have no "stories" about my pin.

My pin is white gold with pearls and saphires alternating with the raised clasped hands since it has only been a year since i got initiated. I took all of the paychecks i had and told myself after all of the fees whatever i have left over is my pin so i was able to get the pin i wanted and in the color i wanted, white gold. I am happy that I did not join until the spring of my junior year insted of my freshman because i got the choice of white gold.

The pin i want is the all diamond white gold one and i could have had it but i didn't have a checking account at that time but I am sure it will be worth the wait until i have money to buy it and insure it along with all the rest of my jewelry.

I have to get a new guard. The old one doesnt function too well and I need a new one. I think its cause I have so many dangles on it and I broke it somehow or something, I need to get a new one. I admit lol, I am a dangle fanatic. If I was in that office or did something lol, I want the dangle.
