Question What Questions did you ask yourself when considering showing interest?

Just curious as to what questions everyone has asked themselves when considering showing interest is a particular sorority...

I have been asking myself lately why I would want to be apart of the Greek system?

Why I favor a particular sorority?

What can I add to that sorority?

How have I shown that I am service-minded?

And what habits might I need to change if I were chosen and actually represented that sorority?

What else should interested women ask themselves?

questions you should ask yourself

Will I remain active once I have paid all this money and done so much to show that I am interested?!

As an aspirant seeking membership in Sigma Gamma Rho, I asked myself,

Do you feel that you will be able to spend the REST OF YOUR LIFE working as enthusiastically as a member (if selected of course) as you are as an aspirant?

It's kind of a piggyback on these questions. I remember when I was an aspirant, I had to sit back and ask myself:

Am I really pursuing Sigma for the right reasons, and what are my reasons?

Will I remain active 5, 10, 25 years after my induction, and what will I do to make that happen? Everyone always hears that membership is a lifelong commitment, but everyone doesn't always understand what that means.

The fact that it is a lifelong commitment is one of the reasons that draws me in. I am planning my career toward non-profit management (or economic development). So I see myself in public service for the long run anyway.
I just have a heart for Sigma Gamma Rho (and I really hope I am chosen).

Here's another question I think you should ask yourself:

Do you have the time needed to put into various activities?

I have a Soror that holds a position in our chapter. She literally has about 3 jobs (selling real estate, another full-time job, and something else) and she was taking care of her ill mother. She was at 1 Sorority meeting last year. Don't bite off more than you can chew. If you honestly don't think you have the time, then you should look at trying to obtain membership at another time. Believe me, I know that all of the D9 have more than enough t-shirt wearers (and I'm not implying that you would be).

Good Luck to all those folks that are seeking membership into an organization.

Thanks for the insight. I do work full time now, but I plan on switching to part time soon to make more time for school and other activities. I'm actually making alot of changes in my life soon, I just hope this will be one of them.

What can the sorority add to my life?

I asked myself if I could see myself with the group when I was old and gray.
