Alum Relations Help
I recently was slated to be the Alumna Relations chair at Illinois (Iota). Our relations have gotten a little weak over the years and I was hoping to bring it back to life over my term. One of the problems I have found is that our database needs updating. Does anyone know a good way to find these awesome alums? Also, any good ideas on how to get alums to become more active within a chapter would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

I would recommend contacting Sherri Haman at IHQ and getting a list of Iota alumnae to update your database (she can e-mail you the list as an excel spreadsheet so you can EASILY update the info without re-typing!). You can send out an e-mail to them all as well and other correspondence (especially if you do not have a large budget for mailing, e-mail is cheap!). I would say that a start would just be to keep them updated on the chapter as far as starting to get more involvement.

Thank you so much Sarah, this will help a ton. I am so excited to get a name of someone who can help me so that I can start to help my chapter.

Nu Beta used IHQ's list and Ole Miss' list of AOII's alumnae and merged the two. We only have about 50 wrong addresses out of 1300 initiated living alumnae. We also have more than 50% of their emails to send out emails as well. We are currently using Omega Financial and they have a service for fundraising that helps with newsletters and databases and webpages. It does cost some money but I think starting with IHQ's list and Iowa Alumni Association's list will help. Contact Iowa's Alumni Association and tell them you need a list emailed to you in excel format of AOII Alumnae. They will probably make you go and sign something that says you won't sell their names or anything, for that you might want your adviser to go with you just to make sure you aren't signing your life away or something.

Thanks so much! I was wondering if the alumni association on campus would also be able to help me. I will definitely check this out.
