San Diego Area GC Gathering

Okay, so while talking in the thread about meeting someone from GC, I threw out the idea of organizing a gathering of GCers from the San Diego area. I'd love to meet more of you that are here in the best place to live!

What would work for you (where should we meet, what should we do, when should we plan on meeting, etc.)? Use this thread to start throwing out ideas, and hopefully we can get some concrete plans together to meet up with one another sometime soon!

I'm not from the San Diego area, but I'm only about an hour or so away! I'd love to do something if someone is going to make plans! Keep me updated!

We should decide on a general area first: North/South, Coastal/Inland. Mission Valley/Fashion Valley, RB/PQ/Poway, PB, La Jolla, Carlsbad, Del Mar?

How about centrally located, since it sounds like we can pull people from up north, closer to the city itself, I'm up in Ramona, etc.?

So maybe the Mira Mesa/RB/Carmel Mountain area?

HI There,

Depending on the day and time (weekends best) I might be able to make it down from Los Angeles. What about sometime during winter break from classes.

Meeting during winter break would work for those of us living in the area, but others who go to school in the area might be going home for the holidays and stuff like that. I'm not ruling it out, just bringing up the possibility of people not being able to come if it's over the holiday break.

Right now I'm going to a community college, so I actually have close to a month off from school for break during the holidays, but I don't know what you all think.

Any other suggestions?

As I said in the other thread, I'm all for a GC meet-up in San Diego! I'm centrally located in Clairemont; so I'm good to go for most county areas.

How about somewhere in Mission Valley/Fashion Valley? For example, Trophy's Sports Grill and Bar in Hazard Center. Or, maybe we can go to The Old Town Mexican Cafe in Old Town....something like that.

Since I don't drink alcohol, I'm personally not keen on going to a flat out bar or nightclub. If everyone decides to go to a nightclub, then I'll probably stop by for 5 minutes to say hello and then go home. Sorry. If everyone is intent on having a party hardy GC gathering, then can I suggest starting out at someplace like Uno Chicago Pizzeria on Mission Blvd. in Pacific Beach? That way, we can have a fun place to hang out to start with; then, people who want to bar hop can carry on down Garnet Ave.

I'm really busy for the next two months' worth of weekends, but I think I can manage any weekday except for Tuesday evenings. I hang out with friends every Tuesday; plus, I am *not* going to miss watching "24"! Weekends are sorta bad for me right now but individual days may be available depending on when everyone wants to meet.

Well, since I drink alcohol, and I am right now......

I don't really know how to end that.

Why did I find that so damn funny?

I too am centrally located so most locations are cool with me. And as far as weekday/weeknight I'm cool with either as long as it's not too early on a weeknight due to traffic after work.

Since I'm always open to a good drink, any restaurant with a bar sounds good to me.

One vote each so far.

In all honesty, anywhere we decide on meeting is fine with me. I'd probably be with navane...I don't personally drink, so if there's something else *plus* alcohol, I'd be fine. Meeting for food is always a good thing!

what about dave and busters in mission valley, or the waterfront (old school bar and kinda restruant with the best burgers) downtown, or anywhere in pb, or sunshine and co in ob....i am down for whatever, as long as it is a fun environment.

oh, and i schedule class around happy hour, so timing is not a problem!

I was actually thinking about Dave and Buster's when I first even thought about the idea about trying to get a San Diego get-together organized

I'm free basically any night except Thursday nights, and if we meet on a day when I had classes earlier, I can always go hang out with the grandparents until it's time to leave and meet up with all of you....so I guess I'm saying that I'm pretty much open to anytime that works for the majority of you!
