How Diverse is your Sorority/Fraternity?
Hey everyone, I am interested in rushing this spring and just wanted to know a little about everyone's chapter.
1. Name of your sorority/fraternity
2. School
3. Location
4. Is your chapter diverse?
What I mean by diverse is pretty much anything from race/ethnicity, loud, shy, party people, study bunnies you name it! I think that diversity is great and is something that every college/university needs. College is a time when you truely find yourself and also learn from different people and/or cultures. I went to a school where is was not diverse at all, and when i transferred schools i found out how diverse a university can be. Where i go now, you can find all sorts of people everywhere and its wonderful. So if you dont mind, i'd like to hear from your chapter!!

1. Phi Beta Fraternity: National Professional Association for the Creative and Performing Arts (most people just refer to us at "Phi Beta" )
2.Capital University (I'm an alumni, class of '99!!)
3.Columbus, Ohio
4.Relatively, yes: What I mean is, in regards to the rest of campus, it is. We are coed, and this year they currently have slightly fewer men than women. As for race/ethnicity.. there are only a few minority students (although the campus itself is only about 6-7% minorities). There are a few loud, party animal types (although few and far between), some serious study-buddy types, etc. Also, we are an arts fraternity, that is inclusive of all arts, so it is representative of several majors and interests (and we have also had non-art majors in the chapter).
Hope that helps answer your question.
Remember.. every organization is different, and within that organization, every chapter is a little (or sometimes a lot) different, and at each school the atmosphere is different, and every few years, as students come and go, the chapters themselves change.

1. Zeta Sigma Chi Multicultural Sorority,Inc.
2. Univ. of Michigan
3. Ann Arbor
4. We are VERY diverse. WEll being multicultural, we represent nearly 70+ different ethnicities throughout our entire organization. We have 5 chapters right now (and growing!!) and we encompass women from all cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, etc. As far my own chapter, we are diverse as far as culture and personalities. I have very serious studying sisters, loud sisters, laid back sisters...you name it, we got it!
Like SilverTurtle said, each org is different and they do change as the people come and go. The same w/ chapters at different schools. Not to harp on my sisters or anything, but one of our chapters is at a known party school. So they do tend to hold more parties than we do at my chapter. But that's how their school is. And that's what makes us all so unique and different!

St Johns University
Diversity???? Our sisterhood is the most diverse sosrority under PanHellenic at our school. We have sisters from everywhere and we learn from each other. They learn about my Irish heritage and I learn about the other sisters cultures as well. We are not set apart as multicultural sosrority, we are just people who appreciate the differences that can actually bring everuone together.
St Johns is a divserse school and Greek Organizations cant exist while excluding people of different races and religions, it is not possible
My sorority is local. I know Nationals where one chapter could be all white while another chapter of the same organization can be all Spanish. Organizations represent the individual school they are at

I am so glad to hear about everyone's sorority/fraternity and how diverse it is! I do agree with what yingyangexz said about how organizations are diverse depending on the school. Its so great so many people from different interests, backgrounds, etc. can join together for the love of sisterhood/brotherhood! Keep on posting- its good to hear from everyone!

Sigma Aplha at LSU is ..of if not...one of the most diverse sororities out of the 11 that are here. We have a great time learning of other cultures and honestly I think that is what makes it even more interesting. I wish more sororities were diverse, and I dont mean the ones that are called "multicultural" i mean sororities in general should be more open minded..no I'm not saying that they aren't but honestly it doesnt seem that way.

Wow...that was really interesting! I always (ignorant me...) tended to think that BGLO's were the most exclusive racially. I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to see that all kinds of GLO's everywhere are sucessfully turning their chapters into more diverse org's that truly represent the world around us in a more accurate light. Big ups!

MIDWESTDIVA- Thanks for the correction baby-I appreciate it.
Tiara98, It depends where you go. I think these days we have become more open-minded people. Also it has to do with the way people grew up and were brought up, high school friends, roomates influences and the impression you get from members of org. on your particular campus. TKEs and AXPs are "White frats" yet, had many African American, Hispanic and a few Korean members. It depends on what you are looking for in an org.
Take care.
