Question Where else would you have gone?

I don't remember this being discussed before but what the heck, I'll ask...

If you hadn't gone to your university or college, where might you have gone? How would it have been different?

My parents were after me to attend college in the ole hometown--at the University of Houston--so then my cousin would've been at my house 24/7 talking about the glories of her DZ chapter there. However, most of my high school went XO there, so who knows?

One thing, I bet I would've gotten to know justamom!

I don't know whereelse I would have gone to school... I applied early and that was that. Although I did love Princeton, and would have loved to go there. It is so pretty! Although if I had, I would never be in a sorority, because they don't have any.

I would have probably gone to Penn State, hated it, quit, and ended up staying in my hometown. Eeeek!

Penn State is a great school, but I could have never made it at a campus that size...it just wasn't for me.

The only school I really considered (other than Iowa) was Northwestern. I chose Iowa because it seemed more fun; at Northwestern, everyone seemed much too serious! Also, it might have been just a little too close to home. Had I gone to Northwestern, I probably would've been more serious about studying than I was, and I probably would've spent more time with the guy from home I was dating at the time, which, in retrospect, would have been a huge waste.

I loved USC and it was the absolute right place for me, I wouldn't change that choice for anything...

But say there was NO USC...

Berkeley
UVA
UT
UF

I didn't even apply to any of those schools.

I spent my college years kicking myself for never applying to Virginia Tech, because I think that's where I should have gone. Transferring became not an option because after my first year I was by credits a junior... wouldn't have made sense to transfer then.

I applied to four other schools so I could have an option if I really wanted one. Turned out that I didn't, lol. However, if I didn't go to FSU, I would have ended up at (in this order):

- University of Miami
- Georgia State University
- Rutgers University
- University of Georgia

if I hadn't gone to IOWA....

- Georgetown - love the school, love the area, love being in DC - i applied & got in but figured it was too far and too much $$$ I'm still considering here for Law School though

- Marquette - it was closer to home, but come on, that would have been 16 years of Catholic school, streching it a bit

- Illinois - i hate that campus, its so ugly and unfriendly, i know i never would have been happy there

- Northwestern - i would have made my dad's entire family happy b/c they all went there - but i would have been miserable studying all of the time

- Michigan - great school, but I just wasn't sure about it

I applied to 12 different schools [what the hell was I thinking?] and I got into all but one of them.

My senior year in HS I was really big on the whole "I need to continue my Catholic education" thing, so I really wanted to attend a Catholic University--so naturally I applied to Notre Dame [my first choice], Seattle University, University of San Francisco, Gonzaga University, Loyola Marymount, and Fordham.

Just in case we couldn't afford it, I also applied to Washington, Wazzu, UNLV, Oregon, and Colorado State...oh, yeah...and Hawaii, of course.

I got into all of them [Notre Dame and Gonzaga put me on their wait lists, but I eventually got in] except one...Washington flat out rejected me. Ha!

It was always my dream to attend Notre Dame, and I'm looking into Graduate School over there. It's a good thing I didn't go though...they have no Greeks there!

I was all but packed and ready to go to Clarion University in Pennsylvania before having a change of heart in May of my senior year and applying to a state school (U of Wisconsin - Whitewater)

I only applied to Ohio University because it was supposedly the best broadcasting school in the country. And it was pretty good.

If not there, I would probably have ended up at Ohio State since I grew up in Columbus. That would have been a really bad idea.

well, i only applied to 3 schools, muhlenberg, penn state and allentown college. i never really wanted to go to allentown college so i am still not sure why i applied! i did have really strict standards when applying....i would not attend a school if the dorms had cement block walls. i did not want to be in prison!!! lol.

if i would have gone to psu, it would have been a continuation of high school. i really did not want that! i would have liked to go to johns hopkins (i chickened out sending my application).

i would have gone to CU-Boulder had I had the grades to do so. Out of state schools weren't an option for me bc a) i didn't have the money 2) my mom wanted me to be instate
I'm not bitter bc I have had a semester out of state for national exchange and I can go to a really good university for grad school.
