Unhappy Boo!

I just found out tonight that my little is not coming back this or next semester. I am super bummed. I have wanted a little since before I had a big!!! I only had one semster with her, and she was going to be living across the hall from me... so I was really going to get to know her.

So you are in the front of the line for your next little....

But a friendly word....don't forget your little who isn't coming back. A big/little sis relationship is stronger than the bounds of campus .

I know. When she asked tonight what she should do with the stuff I gave her (It was a lot, probably too much... but most of it was meant to be passed down to her little, etc.) I told her that she could keep what she wanted because she will always be my little. I also told her that we would stay in touch and that if I went a week without hearing from her, or the other way around, that she had to call me.
It just kinda hurts.
I will probably be able to get a little next year b/c the Phis will all know me real well b/c I am Phi Director. So, that's a plus! I will still miss her, though.

Sorry to crash your thread, but I had a similar situation. I got my little in March of 2003. We were inseperable, but then she decided to transfer to UGA. I was VERY upset and worried that we wouldn't keep in touch. It's actually turned out very well. We email and IM, and she has come to visit several times. She was even one of my bridesmaids in my April wedding. Just because she's not on campus doesn't mean you can't still have the big/little relationship.

That being said, I did miss having a little on campus, so I took on another one a year later. I think my first little was a bit jealous, but she ended up loving little #2.

Again, sorry for the crash!

is she transferring to a school with another phi mu chapter? one of my friends transferred and she got a little at her new school (and had one from our school). it was pretty cool when she called her little at our school to introduce her to her "twin" at a school a zillion miles away!

and definately the bonds can span the miles. my big and i meet monthly for dinners and i graduated 7 years ago!

I understand. My little actually had to leave the chapter. Not because she wanted to or because anyone wanted her to be gone, but family issues. It sucks, I'm not gonna lie, but we still have a great relationship. She's an awesome girl and if I pick up another little this year(and I hope to, even though I'll be a senior), she'll still know who her side-sis is!

That stinks that she's not coming back. I love my little sis and my adopted little sis (her big left...she was best friends with me and and little, and she pledged with my little, it just made great sense to us!) They were both in my wedding this summer and I graduated 3 years ago. We're all thousands of miles from each other but they will always be some of my closest and best friends!!!

I had both a Sophomore little (who I was never super-close to; she had a really serious boyfriend that she was always with) and a Junior year little (who I adored! We just hit it off!). When I came back from being disaffiliated during recruitment my senior year, my 2nd little was at the house and I attacked her and got super excited. I had felt so bad because it was her first rush and I hadn't been there for support. (Miss State rush is kinda tough on new sophomores...) About two weeks later she came to me and told me that she was having to quit for some financial reasons. I was sooo heartbroken! But she is still a great friend and even now that I'm not on campus we still keep in touch. I'm such a proud big sis because she has really become a campus leader, and it's so cool to see her name in the student paper and hear about her from other people!

It's hard when your lil can't stick around, but having a great relationship with them can stick around anyway!

You could always "adopt" a little... maybe a girl whose big left, too?
