Getting over his fear
Sunday, October 2, 2005.
My seven year old son and I rode the wipeout ride, the fireball(ride that have you hanging upside down), and the Stardust (the ride that stand up ride that spins you really fast.). But the ride that made my son called it quit was the zipper ride at the Virginia State Fair. My son slipped out the seat. He was holding on my his head and arm. Thank God, my son has a big head. I could not get close to him. I was screaming my head off. The ride flipped us over and over again. My son did not cry at all. He told me he did not want to ride anything.
The next morning my son tells me. Mom I want to go on the zipper again. I got to get over my fear.
***
Wow, I don't know whether to shake him and tell him it almost kill him, but at the same time I am glad he wants to conquer his fear. I just hope I'm ready to go on it with him next time.

He is very brave. Personally, I was screaming on the Scooby Doo ride (haven't been on another one since), and an experience like the above would have me scared witless. But he's 7 and is thinking like this - I'm proud of him for you.

Yes, I'm proud of him, too. My mother and I were talking, she said with him thinking like that it's nothing out there that would not hold him back.

Lemme tell you. . . I'm giving lil' man a standing "O" because I'm afraid of heights. And I try not to impose that on my daughter. I want her to be more courageous than her mom. I think she likes riding some roller coasters, and I think the more she rides them, the more she'll like them.

Ditto on that. Little man Strive Jr., I salute you.
As a side note I did make an attempt to takle this fear of mine head on when I went ot Hawaii back in January. I took a (1 1/2 hour) ride in a helicopter over Mt. Kilauea volcano.

Wow! I probably would have hugged him so tightly (and cried)that he would have developed a phobia about hugs. That little man will be our first Black president!

You should be very proud of your son. Lil FeeFee is 8 years old and is somewhat of a daredevil herself, lol.
