Chapter Websites

I know there are previous threads on this topic, but from browsing through other GLO websites I have found Chi Omega to be impressive in this area. I'm not sure how they work this, but they have a set format for their chapter websites and then each chapter changes the information to their specific chapter. I know each chapter is not required to use this format, but at least the chapter has the option of using a pre-made format.

I get so frustrated when I am searching the ADPi chapter websites and find so many that are not kept up to date. (Even my own chapter's website is not up to date.) Some say that it takes too much time, too much money, etc. Whatever the reason, at this day and age....I think each chapter should be mandated to keep their website running and up to date.

I would love to see ADPi have a template like this. I'm sure money is the big factor, and I'm not saying that the chapters should not incur any of the costs. The chapters should be passed along the expenses.

Here's to wishful thinking......

Personally, I do not really like the set webpage thing. I mean, I like the orginization part. But what I love about different chapters is the originality of the webpages.

I agree.....

To those chapters who are able to keep their websites up to date almost weekly I think the originality is great! To those chapters (like mine) who cannot seem to keep it up to date, I think the option of a set format would be beneficial.

I do not think we could ever mandate it because not every chapter has a girl who knows how to make a webpage....but on the otherhand the beneficial part of having a webpage template for ADPi is that it would then be an office in every chapter and there could be training at DLC for the new officer every year!!

I do like the different websites also- but at the same time not everyone has one or keeps it up to date!! I am an alum and I do my chapters and alum groups websites for fun!! I taught myself how to do it through trial and error!! I am always updating at least once a month!!

I think Amanda's idea gives us the best of both worlds! I love to see the original design and graphics of the truly creative webmasters (I get absolutely goofy when I see the graphics our chapter designed!), but some chapters just don't have the talent to keep that type of site up.

And an outdated website is useless!! If it can't be updated at LEAST once a month (preferably once every two weeks), it's really not very constructive - that's when a template with a willing volunteer would work much better than an original site.

Actually with the new PO system there was suppose to be templates for both chapter and AA websites. I just went on there and the links are up but when you click on "Make a new template" nothing happens...

I do think that with the option of a template, more chapters will keep a website.

Living in Austin, I keep wishing that the Delta chapter had a website! Most of the other chapters at UT have one, and I would love it if our ADPi ladies did too.

It annoys me to no end when chapters don't keep their websites up-to-date. I mean come on, how hard is it to update it AT LEAST ONCE a month? I was EE's web master last year, and kept it up to date... I know being a student is hectic and everything, but if you have way too much to do that you can't even spare half an hour for the website, then seems to me you should hand the responsibility over to someone who WILL take it seriously (maybe an alumna? ). A website is one of the most important recruitment tools chapters have. I know before I rushed, I looked at all the websites the sororities on my campus had, and based on those, I picked the ones I liked the best. (Now I know that's not the best way to form opinions about groups, but I was a freshman with no clue about greek life).
