He is on my list of top 5 actors. He plays this role incredibly well.

There is enough humor for the general audience to enjoy it and enough material on a deeper level to keep others interested.

The movie has not arrived in Chattanooga yet. Can't wait to see it!!!

Hoffman is already on my short list for Best Actor nominations ( note: this is w/o having seen some of the films yet )

1. Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Capote
2. Joaquin Phoenix, Walk the Line
3. Heath Ledger, Brokeback Mountain
4. Jeff Daniels, The Squid and the Whale
5. Terrance Howard, Hustle and Flow or Crash

I'm not exactly sure how you can build a list like that without seeing those movies.

I'm excited about Walk the Line but I don't see how Joaquin could do that role that well.

Brokeback Mountain? If I'm straight and didn't like Love Actually, I'm OK with not liking the gay hick version of that movie.

Squid and the Whale was good.

Terrance Howard's performance was good but I would hate to see any awards go to a slow film like that.

Anyway, for Capote I would say that if the studios want to mass market this movie then it will be this year's Sideways.

I can remember when Capote used to be a regular guest on the Tonight/Johnny Carson show, and this movie pretty much captures what I saw of him on TV.

A big crowd on Monday night when I saw it - and most were older people.

The list is just speculation at this time.
