Freemasonry and other lodges, is it wrong?
I have a question.....
I don't know how many of you here are business owners or managers or whatever, but I've joined several lodges in an attempt to establish myself (business wise) within my community inorder to get my business as well as my name out there. I'm sure those of you who are small business owners know what I'm talking about. I've joined the Elks lodge, Moose Lodge, Chamber of Commerce, two Country Clubs and now the chance to join the Freemasonry has been offered to me. My question is, how does this sit with a GLO? What would happen if I went through with it? Anything? I've heard from people its kind of like joining a fraternity but isnt exactly the same......so would it be ok? Politics and Religion are not discussed at the meetings but instead its mainly business. Is anyone here apart of the masonry? I know there are things that cannot be discussed but I have a lot of questions in regards to already being in GLO and what sort of conflict, if any, can comeabout from joining.

No doubt AlphaSigOU will be able to answer many of your questions on Freemasonry.
I suggest sending him a PM.
As a business owner myself, it's a good idea to network with other business owners via these type of organizations. Good luck.

I don't see how any GLO would have a problem with becoming a Mason. I wouldn't worry about that as a potential problem. It wouldn't be the same thing as joining Pike as a freshman and then Kappa Sig as a sophomore; becoming a Mason is seen as something somewhat different.
If I had the time I know I would consider it - I've heard nothing but great things from the Masons I know.

Hey! I'm still around... yer not checking some of the other forums I post in...
Check out the thread linked by Sister Havana, as I explained much of what goes on in the membership process of the Masons. Any other questions, please feel free to reply here or PM me.

It always amazed Me how people I knew in Orgqnizations that I was in never came in.
Always an excuse.
Look at the cost and what the benefit truely is!
Then go from there!
We as small business owners are at the mercy to a lot of people who give lip service!

Amen to that.
While being in various business oriented organizations can be helpful, it's no guarantee you'll have customers breaking down your doors to buy.
