Rivals

So at least at my school there are alot of rival fraternities and such, just curious if situations happen like this at your college what do you do and how do you handle them?

I'm personally just sick of it and think it's dumb, any feelings about this kinda thing?

If the rivalry is harmful, such as vandalism and theft, try to get the chapter leaders to meet and to agree to stop/change.

Try to convert the energy to intramurals, to hating the administration, to politics, to the campus newspaper, etc.

"The rivalry is so intense, 'cause the stakes are so small"

Back in the days of old when I was in School there was none of the type of rivalry that there seems to be today at some schools.

But not to long ago there was a lot of things happening between LXA and SPhiE who are accross the street. That was settled as both were going to get kicked off of campus it wasnt taken care of.

Another time SX was giving LXA a lot of crap and came into the House and stole some items. 1 being the only Composit of the Brothers of the local I started. I was incensened and when I got home I emailed the SX Chapter and thier National and told them in no uncertain terms that if this and some of the other items were not returned I would file charges against them. It has sensed bee worked out between both Fraternitys.

Now the Pikes who bought the old SX house next door to the new one are constantly having problems, fights and vandalism.

What is so sad, is that these Morons cant seem to get it that there are only 6 Fraternitys and 3 Sororitys on campus because it is a tough Greek Campus for many reasons it is a tenious situation for the Greek Life.

We used to drink together at the local watering holes, give rides if need be. Now, they want to fight!

When I was down at The Pitt a couple weeks ago, some SPEs came over to see what was going on with our new house. Had a nice talk and said I had never been to thier house. They immediately took me over and toured the Chapter House and chatted with about 6 of thier guys.

Rivalry can be good on the Intermural field, Homecoming and other events, but when it comes to destruction, that has to stop.

Many of these Groups need to realize, that Greeks are a Minority on Campus and do not help themselves or each other with this stupidity.

We all have one thing in common, We are usually a step ahead of the independents but at times dumber.

Either The Greeks work things out between themselves, or the HQs and School Adms will!
