Movie/TV show recommendations

I thought it would be fun to start a thread where we could recommend good movies (or heck even movies to avoid at all costs) or TV shows to one another.

Movies you must see:

In Her Shoes
Just Like Heaven
Mansfield Park (the new version)

TV shows:

CSI (mr. George Eads Baby)
CSI: Miami (all about our sister Emily)
Law & Order SVU
Alias

TV shows no longer on the air :

Buffy (he he)

Well my latest tv addiction is Battlestar Galactica... Other then that I generally watch Gilmore Girls, Smallville, SG-1, and Mythbusters...

As for movies... I am generally a classic movie fan... Just was watching Sabrina.. Picked up Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany's too... Always like Gidget... Most of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals... Auntie Mame is another classic with Rosalind Russell... It Happened One Night is where a women lift her skirt to get a car to stop is originally from... Those are what I am thinking of off the top of my head... More will probably come to me later... I have a very large movie collection... both new and old... So I could probably list a bunch more...

As for tv shows to get on dvd since they aren't on the air anymore... I have to agree with Buffy... Also La Femme Nikita... X-Files... Star Trek Deep Space 9... Roswell... Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman...

This is fun!

Movies:
-Cool Runnings (if you can watch it without crying, you have no heart! And yes, I speak with a Jamaican accent for about a week after watching it!)
-Shining Through (we hear a lot about Germany during WWII; this brings it home, without it being a Holocaust film. I would not recommend a Holocaust film to everyone, as they change your life!)
-Dr. Zhivago (see above, only about the Russian Revolution)
-Reds (ditto)
-Love, Actually (okay, it needs some serious editing - but it's still heading towards becoming a classic)
-A League of Their Own
-Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, and almost anything directed by John Hughes. Teen angst at its best.

Television:
-ER (IMHO, the worst ER is better than anything else on television, especially the older reruns with the ever yummy George Clooney)
-Jeopardy!
-My Name is Earl (one of the very few shows which actually discusses consecquences for one's actions, and funnier than I could have ever thought!)

No longer on Television:
-Does anyone else remember Where in the World is Carmen SanDiego?? What a great show! Double Trouble!
-various episodes of shows on TV Land or Nick at Night. Examples would include:
--WKRP in Cinncinnati Was there a bad episode? My favorites are the tornado/tourists ("God must really hate trailers!"), the turkeys ("As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!") and when the smart ones act dumb and the dumb ones act smart. One of the few shows to NEVER jump the shark!
--The Dick Van Dyke Show ("Oh, Rob!")
--some of I Love Lucy Vitameatavegimen, The Candy Factory, the Wax Tulips...
--some of The Mary Tyler Moore Show - just to see the baby steps of women's liberation.

I do! (I referenced it the other day for some random reason - WGBH in Boston! - and got some REALLY weird looks from my classmates!)

So far, my MUST-SEE TV currently includes:
*Crossing Jordan - would LOVE to see this on DVD!
*Skating with Celebrities - yes, I know it's rigged
*CSI: Miami
*NCIS - if you have not seen this show, you MUST go watch it....right now (I'm waiting )
*Amazing Race - I would love to be on this show someday (doubt it would happen!)
*Criminal Minds
*Lost
*Alias
*Survivor - yes, I am a reality TV junkie
*CSI

"Old" shows I try to catch:
Boy Meets World
Whose Line is it Anyways?

Movies: (I, too, have a lot, but these are some of my all-time favorites)
The Mighty Ducks (1 & 2 *only*)
Princess Diaries (both 1 & 2)
Princess Bride
Bring It On
Center Stage
Ella Enchanted
Pride & Prejudice
Harry Potter (1-3...still debating about 4)
Miss Congeniality
13 Going on 30
A Walk to Remember (this is my "cry" movie when I need a good one!)

I'm sure I'll think of more - like I said, I have a lot of movies and I may be forgetting some of my TV shows
