Is the closing a temporary thing, like for a year, or are they shut down for good?

Unfortunately, it is true. The chapter is closing, there will be a press release from HQ's after all chapter members have been notified.
I am sure there is someone from CSU-Chico that could possibly fill-in the details. There is nothing in on the University's website or in The Orion.
As we discuss this subject, please keep in mind the almost 100 young ladies that are being told their chapter is closing.

So sad if it is true.
But, it might be numbers?
Chico sounds like a Problem School for Greeks. Well, it sounds like Chico is a Problem School period.
Keep the Greeks, close the school!

What a concept! Why didn't we think of this before?

my chapter almost got shut down. we had to meet with the Vice President of the school and they broke out a flip chart ten pages long of all the things guys did back in like 1990. They wanted to hold us accountable. We hired some lawyers and took it as far as we could. In the end we ended up losing our house on campus.

Chico chapter
I'm an alumni and ex-exec council memeber from the Cal Ioto chapter at Chico and received a letter from headquarters today saying the chapter has been shut down. Apparantly there was an incident on May 7th and given the no tolerance policy, the doors were closed.
It's such a shame, remembering so many great times and the friends I made there. How did it come to this??
The ladies at Cal Ioto when I was active, were nothing but classy. We had to live with a reputation based on the Chico Party school rep (even then.) Looks like it caught up with the chapter. I'm sure that the current active chapter never ever wanted this to happen and I feel for them.
Blood sweat and tears went into building the Pi Phi house legacy through fundraisers, family and alumni contributions, proving ourselves to headquarters (constantly,) and working in the community and for the town. To have it just gone is so sad. I know many of my sisters in the years I was there have no idea.
There is a tree out front that was dedicated to a friend we lost. Now who will live in the house and will they take care of it?
Really tears me up.

Whoa this is a complete surprise to me! I have heard absolutley nothing of this and I am good friends with many presidents, panhellenic members...although I guess not with any Pi Phi's so that's probably why I haven't heard about this. I didn't even hear through the grapevine about any event, and let me tell you if it was any big deal most greeks in chico would know about it...so I hope everyone is ok.
This really sucks though because we lost ZTA last year and now Pi Phi? Hmm like greek life wasn't going to suck enough this upcoming year.

Sounds like Chico has many more problems than Greeks if this is the way they handle things.
I want to be President Of Chico!
Greeks would all be National, fly right and multiply!
OOps, sorry not meaning to step on Local Toes. But, there seems to what inlies the Problem.
Now, to hold DSPhi accountable for renting a House to some numb nuts is getting over the top!
