Most treasured....
Okay, now that I am over-the-hill in GC land (This is my 1001st post!), I thought that I would start a thread about most treasured AOII...
What/who is your most treasured...
AOII memory?
AOII object (not jewelry)?
AOII jewelry piece?
AOII friend (may have more than one!)?
AOII GC friend (may have more than one!)?
AOII saying?
Have fun!

#1 you are not over the hill
#2 where are your answers, Silver?
AOII memory? There have been so many it's hard to choose one. I'll pick Rush Retreat 1985, because we worked so darned hard and it paid off in the end with our first quota/total in formal recruitment! Hopefully my favorite is still to come.
AOII object (not jewelry)? The pin box given to me when I retired as Pi Alpha's CA in the late 1990s.
AOII jewelry piece? My signet ring because it's no longer available (I think), then my gorgeous rescued badge.
AOII friend (may have more than one!)? Sandi and Colleen, because no matter how far we live from each other or how rarely we see each other these days, I consider them my real family. They are my sisters, no blood ties necessary.
AOII GC friend (may have more than one!)? Everyone. Seriously, I feel so lucky that we have such amazing AOIIs here on GC. I'm thankful to have gotten to know you in cyberspace and hope to see/meet as many as possible in Atlanta.
AOII saying? One motto, one badge, one bond and singleness of heart...

What/who is your most treasured...
AOII memory?
I guess when my younger sister and my mother were initiated! But I really remember fondly running down the hill from getting my bid to the AOII house on Bid Day...I WAS the first new member at the house
AOII object (not jewelry)? Would probably have to be this little ceramic box that is in the shape of a heart my big sis gave me. It has AOII on it with roses. It was made back in the day by a local artist. I also treasure my two AOII needle points my younger sister made for me, they are now pillows in my apartment.
AOII jewelry piece? probably my charm bracelet with AOII charms from conventions and symbols and my AOII drop on it.
AOII friend (may have more than one!)? I would have to say three of my pledge sisters who mean the world to me (one works at IHQ).
AOII GC friend (may have more than one!)? All of ya'll! Like duh!
AOII saying? nAturally sOme LeTTers stand out
AOII or no II at all!

Re: Most treasured....
I realized that I did not answer! Come on all of you beautiful AOII's. I know you have some treasured AOII memories!!!
What/who is your most treasured...
AOII memory?
My intitation dinner with all of my friends from IHQ AND Beryana!
AOII object (not jewelry)?
Probably the 1898 Barnard senior yearbook of our founders. It has wonderful poetry by Stella and Jessie.
AOII jewelry piece?
Either the lavalier in pearls and rubies that Silver Mom gave me or the badge that I wear daily. The badge was returned to IHQ with a note from the family requesting that it go to someone who would wear it daily. It is VERY thin as the original owner did wear it daily. I love that little badge that I bought through the historic badge program and wear it in the original owner's honor everyday (that I have on appropriate clothing). It is so neat to feel connected to something larger than oneself.
AOII friend (may have more than one!)?
Silver Mom (obviously), Beryana, AOIIAlum, the women from the Murfreesboro and Nashville AACs
AOII GC friend (may have more than one!)?
OleMissGlitter, AOIIGal, nphgator, aopirose, rubyrose..*Geez* all of you super great sisters!
AOII saying?
AOII was not your legacy, but rather your destiny.

What/who is your most treasured...
AOII memory? to just name one is difficult! I guess I would have to say LI because I got to see my wonderful sisters and just experience more of AOII! Silver's dinner is also in there as well as staying at Silver's house, Silver Mom's DAR meeting, Initiation, Dinner last week with Ingrid. . . .yup, definitely more than one! LOL
AOII object (not jewelry)? this is a tough one since I really don't have many objects! I guess it will have to be the pandas I have given to me by sisters.
AOII jewelry piece? Other than my badge, probably my AOII Alumna bracelet. Also don't have much jewelry. . .
AOII friend (may have more than one!)? Laura, Silver, Silver Mom, Christin, Joan, and Nancy to start off with
AOII GC friend (may have more than one!)? All of you guys (I'm up north now so I have to say it that way!). Each of you is dear to me and I hope that we get to see each other again soon!
AOII saying? "Loyal, Forever, Alpha to thee."

Memory...I have so many, but the one that stands out right now is of my best friend getting her bid before me, and being an absolute basket case worrying that I wasn't getting a bid, then I got back to my dorm room and there was a whole slew of AOII's waiting for me, bid in hand!
AOII Object...that would be my "Reflections of Sisterhood" print. It hangs on the wall in my bedroom so that I see it every morning when I wake up.
AOII jewelry...SILLY QUESTION!!! My badge of course!!!
AOII friend...I actually have two--
my best friend, Jen, we met when we were 15, decided to go to the same school together as music majors, and pledged AOII together. She is truly my "soul sister", I just wish she were more active with AOII.
And I know you all expected me to say SnowLady of course! I had no idea when we met that we would grow so close or end up being each other's support systems, but we really are! So she would also be my favorite GC friend as well.
AOII saying..."It's not what you became, it's what you've always been", because I guess I'm just really sentimental like that.

AOII memory? On the day of my initiation I was sitting in one of the bedrooms of the chapter house waiting my turn when a dozen roses were delivered to me. The card was a congratulations from my great-grand pledge mom who lived in California. ( I was in Illinois.) I could not believe that someone I had never met - never even heard of - would take the time and money to send a dozen roses to a girl she would probably never even meet. It was then that I truly realized that I was a part of something much bigger than myself.
AOII object (not jewelry)? The memory book that we received for initiation. It is signed with meaningful poems, songs, photos, drawings, all kinds of stuff from the actives.
AOII jewelry piece? Well, I only have 2 - my badge and my lavalier. I will go with my badge. When I was a collegian I had NO money so I had to get the most inexpensive badge available, but I still love it. It is simple, classy, and bright - just like AOII.
AOII friend ? My pledge sister Jenn, and my friend Erica. Erica is from Theta chapter at DePauw and I am from Iota at Illinois. We met in Tulsa as grad students 13 years ago. Now we each have 2 sons the same ages and they are best friends.
AOII GC friend (may have more than one!)? I am kind of new here, so I don't know you all the way you know each other. I will say AOIIGAL because I found out that she was a senior in my chapter when I was a freshman! I know her!
AOII saying? "AOII is not what you have become, it is what you have always been."

Walk-Out to Kansas U as a pledge; and kidnapped by Irishpipes' pledge class to Minnesota.
Initiation Week/s -- Had to be there--lots of fun!
All-80s Iota reunion in Chicago last summer
2004 LI and 2005 Convention
Object/not Jewelry: AOII picture album

AOII friends: Soooo many: Iotas and Phoenix alumnae; all the great women I've met at LI and Convention...I am humbled to call you friends!
AOII GC: All of you again-- of course, Irishpipes was one of my rush babies at Illinois so I'm a little partial
AOII Saying: Chance made us sisters; Choice made us friends.
