Happy 150th Birthday Sigma Chi!
Happy 150th Birthday Sigma Chi!
Quote:
June 28, 2005
Today we celebrate the 150th birthday of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, which was founded in Oxford, Ohio in 1855. On this day, June 28, our Founders announced Sigma Chi's establishment by wearing their badges in public for the first time on Commencement Day at Miami University. Now Sigma Chis celebrate around the world as the Fraternity reflects on its past and looks toward the next 150 years of Sigma Chi brotherhood.
Sigma Chi began when the Seven Founders broke away from Delta Kappa Epsilon after a dispute, forming their own fraternity based upon the values of friendship, justice and learning. Those core values remain strong today, as more than 200,000 living members, 219 undergraduate chapters and more than 140 alumni chapters thrive in North America.
The Fraternity celebrated in Cincinnati this past weekend as Sigs traveled from as far away as Hong Kong and New Zealand to attend the 150th Celebration.
