Live 8 Concert

Did anyone from here attend? I have a slight problem with this concert. How/Why are we raising awareness for this disease with this concert? First, we already know that there is a problem. Second, these concerts took place all around the world. There are people still dying with this fatal disease so how is this concert beneficial? Atleast have people pay $10 for the concert and donate all the proceeds to a particular organization that specifies in getting medication for the victims that really cant afford it. They targeted Africa, let them donate to Africa.

Sorry, I just had to vent a bit.

You misunderstood what the concerts was about. The concert is about raising awareness in the respective countries about the plight of Africa. It's intention is to mobilized the citizens of the G8 nations to pressure its government to do more to end poverty, debt relief and doubling aid for the poorest countries not only in Africa, but the world. I did wish that the concert would also talk about corruption eradication. Corruption is also one of the main reason why Africa is in the state she is in.

If you check out the www.one.org it will answer alot of questions. I wathc the concert and checked out the website as well. What is being done is a good thing. It is letting our world leaders know that we as a world community are demanding they do something with our money that we as nations already have. I think that the concert was a good way to get peoples attention.
