Respect
When is it ever o.k. for a younger member of the sorority to disrespect an older member? (Mind you, they came in through the same chapter)

It's never okay just like it is never okay for a child to disrespect their mother, grandmother, or great grandmother.

It's never okay for any member to disrespect any other member regardless of age or length of membership. So, in that same vein, it's not okay for an older member to disrespect a younger one either.

It depends on what the issue is and what you mean by "disrespect."

Ditto--what is meant by disrepect and what is meant by older--older in Delta or older in age?

Speaking of Respect!
I heard this statement a lot "Oh...you're just a baby!" along with the hand gesture like "swhoo fly swhoo".
I know I'm a neo and all but... doesn't it have to be like that!
So what is all that about?

It really depends on why that Delta is saying that to you. Sometimes people are dismissed, in an abrupt manner, with just cause. Sometimes they aren't.

in this case or multiple cases...it is usually sorors who are not aware I crossed or don't know me... and it's not like we are in some type of conversation we are just greeting each other and then they make to comment.
but anyway I take it all need stride -just wanted to contribute to the discussion...smiles

then you shouldn't let that bother you, especially if they don't know you or know that you are a Soror, and also, they may be doing that to be funny or playful. I know I've said that to some of my neo's and it was not meant to disrespect them.

Well, the reason this question came up is because one of my Prophytes was disrespected verbally by a younger member of our chapter. My prophyte is years older than her in Delta and I don't feel that she (younger member) was acting in line with how a family should act. I would never disrespect any of my Prophytes. (That is what I was taught). Especially not for all to know as this particular member did. How do you respond to this member?
Due to the sensitive nature of this issue, I don't want to go into too much detail but feel free to email me on this if you have any questions that should not be asked publicly.

With all due respect BrownBeauty, if you are a member of our Sisterhood, please go introduce yourself.
