Sigma Alpha--Where are they now?????
Hey! I'm not sure anybody could really answer my question. It's not even that pressing of a question. I was just wondering...what ever happened to our 5 founding members??? You really don't hear much about them these days. From my calculations...they shouldn't be that old. Anyways...I was just wondering if they're still active in Sigma Alpha. How they're doing? What they do for a living? You know...all that good stuff.
Can anyone answer my question????
Have a great summer y'all!!!!
Sisters,
Allison

Hi Allison,
I'll take that one! Actually, we've run bits and pieces in Sigma Alpha News over the last few years, but you may not have caught those (or they may have been before your time). Going to stick w/first names in respect for their privacy since this is the net, ok?
Jennifer works and lives near Alpha Theta Chapter and has visited them for chapter events, I believe. She wrote a very nice letter to be read at the 20th Anniversary Convention.
Cindie is a vet in the northeastern U.S. and has visited with Eta Chapter.
Marilyn is not far from Alpha Omicron Chapter and has expressed interest in meeting with them when time allows.
Amy has moved extensively since college and is now back in the U.S., near some of the midwestern chapters. She attended the 15th Anniversary Convention.
Ann is a busy mother of teenagers and has been involved when time allowed with various SA activities.
I've been very fortunate to have talked with or received letters from all the founders over the years. They are all very supportive of Sigma Alpha, amazed by what She (all of us) has accomplished so far and remain quite enthusiastic about the organization they founded!

Thanks Beth!!! That's great to hear updates on the wonderful founders of Sigma Alpha. It's really neat to think that without them there might not be a Sigma Alpha. I'm glad that they're all doing well. I know they probably don't visit GreekChat but I just have to say THANK YOU to each and every one of them for blazing a trail for each of us. WOW...I'm being really sappy tonight!!!!
OH...and Congratulations to Robin Rastani on her new position!!!

You know... their addresses are all in the alumni directory (national one, your chapter should have a copy). I'm sure they'd be happy to get a thanks from you (or anyone in "snail mail." Just a thought that you helped me come up with!

I might actually sit down and write them some time when I get a chance this summer. After I posted my first reply I started thinking how lucky all of us are to still have our founders alive and doing well. I don't know what's gotten into me tonight but I'm definitely feeling proud of being a Sigma Alpha for some reason!!!!

Hi Beth,
I was also curious about the founding members, so it is nice to have the update. Since Ann has teenagers, are any of them girls?? Is the sorority going to implement a legacy policy?? I know that some sororitys have one where the daughters of members receive special treatment and have different initiation policys. Just curious,

Hi Sarah,
Yes, I think one of her children is a daughter! As to an official legacy policy, there's nothing national of that note, not to say there couldn't be if it was important to people. Some chapters have written such guidelines into their bylaws, and personally I have no concerns over that being a local thing!
