Fraternity/Sorority Leadership Institute

So, I sent in my app, essay and letters of rec couple of months back.

Today I just found out I got accepted to the Delta Sig Leadership Institute, a week-long, all expenses paid trip to Indiana in July. Apparently, since only 50 get chosen, this is a real big honor.

Question: Does your national have somehting like this, and if they do, what should I expect out of these types of things?

About Balfour LTW

The Balfour Leadership Training Workshop, established in 1947, is a program designed to improve the quality of leadership in the Fraternity. Each August, leaders from Sigma Chi's undergraduate chapters spend four days on a college campus, deeply immersed in presentations, discussions, and problem solving sessions about chapter operations and other issues that affect a chapter's viability.

More than 1,000 students and alumni gathered at Kansas State University for Balfour Leadership Training Workshop 2004. "The Renaissance Begins" was the year's theme, with a curriculum focused on ending hazing and improving recruitment.

Stan, Congratulations Man! Ya The Man.

LXA has many different things like this, but, go in with a humble Head.!

I was to old to do some of the things that I did and got rug burns diving for the prize! Well, it was an exercise, but beat the kids. Hurt like hell for a while. Just showed that there is still Heart in Our/Your Fraternity.

This is a Great Honor, shows what a True Brother You are for DSPhi.

Delta Tau Delta has a couple different leadership type events. There is the Leadership Academy which is a big honor to attend. Members spend either a week at our founding chapter in W. Virginia, spend time on an ocean yaht in Maine, or a wilderness academy in Colorado. The fraternity also hosts a President's retreat in Indiana for chapter presidents and chapter advisors, and this year has a Recruitment Academy in a couple different parts of the country for recruitment chairmen.

Congrats!

We have a biannual set of leadership workshops called the College of Chapters. It's held on the campus of Washington & Lee, so a HQ visit and a visit to the VMI parade grounds is part of the experience. I was privileged to attend our first College of Chapters that was held there for a long time -- now it's there permenantly.

For those of you at W&L -- your dorms suck. How do you pay that much in tuition and get such crappy dorms???

You'll have a great chance to see IU, one of the prettiest large campuses and one impressive fraternity row.

If you have time, rent "Breaking Away", the great movie about the campus' famous Little 500 bicycle race.

You probably won't have time, but a great side trip would be to one of the local quarries (the opening of "Breaking Away" is filmed at one of the best known) for a swim.

Have fun.
