Boxed hair color
I was wondering if anyone colors their own hair. When i was at Ole Miss I used the Loreal Feria Lightest natural Blonde. And It was good, I just don't want to be that blonde anymore. So I was getting highlights and lowlights, and it was getting expensive.
So I bought this new Loreal Color Experte and I was a little skeptical. But I am not kidding it turned out AWESOME! it's the new one where you start with all over color then go back and put in highlights where uoi want the. It's more expensive than other boxed color (about $20) but it's worth it. People keep asking me where I get my hair done and they cannot beleive it when I say that I did it.
Anyone else tried it? Or any others?

I was a Loreal Preference Light Blonde for 4 years. It was a great all over color.

I've used Preference for the past 10 years. I just started getting mine done by the girl who cuts my hair (she gives the best blow-out I've ever had) and I really don't like it. It's too red- that really brassy red that you know is dyed. I am going to keep it through the fall and then let her try something darker.
Good for you trying something new AND saving $$$.

I normally dye my hair darker using Feria, and then get white blond highlights at a salon.
I would never never never try to go lighter with an at-home kit - I have naturally red hair that turns orange if I try to use blonde from a box.

I get my hair colored in a salon. By the time I factor in all the towels, shower curtains, wash cloths and bathroom rugs I ruined while dyeing my own hair, it's actually cheaper to pau someome to do it!

I used to do the at-home stuff to save money. Then my hair got really really long and it got really really damaged so I had to cut it all off. Now I will never do that again. As costly as the salon is, it is well worth it to me to just have it done professionally.

I love the Color Experte stuff! Of course, I am far to lazy now to do all that work, so I use the Loreal Feria, or the Preference. I use Feria for light colors, and I just started using the Preference for my dark brown hair, and I LOVE it!!! I also use the Brilliant Brunette line of shampoo/conditioner/shine stuff. It is so wonderful, and makes my hair so shiny. They have it for blonde and red too. My point was, I have yet to have a bad color w/ Loreal and I color my hair about every 2-3 months!!

I second that! I used L'Oreal Light Reddish Blonde for years until recently when I decided to let my hair go back to its real color. I never had bad results. I may go back to it if I get sick of this mousey brown (with the natural frosting LOL)
