I was just telling my boyfriend about this silly job I picked up yesterday and I was wondering if others knew of similar cool and/or fun jobs.
An employee over at my temp agency asked me to fill in for someone else for a "secret shopper" job. I had nothing better to do yesterday so I agreed to fill in.
This one day gig was for me to work as a Field Agent for Pepsi Co. My job was to go around my neighborhood and buy various Pepsi products off of a shopping list they gave me. I then had to record the codes printed on the products, label each one and then ship them on to Texas where they will be tested in the lab. HELLOOOOOO??? They PAID me to buy Pepsi! Those who know me can tell you that I drink Pepsi like it's going out of fashion. LOL
Get this:
- I got paid a wage to perform the work
- they paid me for gas milage
- they gave me $50 cash to actually make the purchases
- the UPS shipping labels and packing supplies were prepaid
- I got to keep whatever was left over
Here's the kicker, on my list, they'd ask for things like one 20oz bottle of Diet Pepsi, one 2L bottle of Orange Slice, one 2L bottle of Pepsi, etc. They'd also ask for 12oz cans of Pepsi, Wild Cherry Pepsi, etc. Since grocery stores don't sell single cans anymore, I was instructed to buy multipacks and get the can from there. However, each can has to have a different production code (bottling date). So, if they ask for three 12oz cans of Pepsi, I couldn't just buy a 6-pack and pull the three cans out. No, I have to buy three *different* six-packs! BUT WAIT! A 6-pack in Ralphs cost $2.98 while the 12-pack was on sale for $3.00. Guess which one I bought.
At they end of the day, *they paid me* to take home ELEVEN 12-packs of Pepsi and Diet Pepsi sans one can each. Tres cool! I guess the job is only a once a month deal; but then again, I just got several months' supply of free Pepsi for one day's work....
Anyone else ever do something equally interesting or "profitable"?
