Webber to Philly

Chris Webber traded to Philly

HUGE trade. Iverson and Webber will be a solid combo, if Webber's healthy enough the rest of the season. As Marc Stein said in the column, it's interesting that Philly got an impact guy without giving up any young players or expiring contracts.

I can tell you now that some of my friends are PISSED about this trade. (They are die-hard Kings fans.) Sadness.

Though I will never forget him showing up at a bowling alley during Greek Week Parlor Games one year. I'm sure he was betting on a quiet night with some friends and half the Greek community at Sac State is rooting him on and watching his every move. Ah... memories.

I don't follow B-ball that much even though in Sacramento, I should be. But who were the players we got? Are they anyone good? I heard the names but didn't recognize them at all.

They got Brian Skinner (solid rebounder/defender having an awful year this year), Corliss Williamson (decent off-the-bench guy at the 3 or 4, can score a little) and Kenny Thomas (good rebounder/defender). They add good depth at the forward position, but none of them is even close to what Webber is. In addition, they don't have favorable contracts; none could be easily traded, and one has a "kicker" in his contract that ups his salary if traded.

I'm bummed Sacramento got rid of Webber, but I hope he'll continue to be an effective ball player (aren't I nice )

I just hope this trade doesn't come back to bite the Kings' playoffs in the behind.

Whats up again Jen. Kings got basically nothing for Webber, although those players they got could be good bench players come playoff time.
