LSU Rush recommendations

Hello Chi Omegas,

My daughter is going through LSU rush this fall as a freshman. My question is whether the Chi Omegas require a recommendation from the rushee's home town, or will a recommendation from a Chi Omega elsewhere suffice?

Also, I heard that rushees at some schools "promote" themselves with posters. What is this about? I appreciate any advice that would help my daughter.

here is a thread talking about the posters. Go to bottom of page 6 for the discussion about it.

Yes posters are used at lots of universities to promote a Potential New Member. We have received scrapbooks, posters, flyers, etc of PNMs here at Ole Miss. I think turning in a nice portfolio with resume, school transcripts, pictures, etc is good.

I'm not from LSU so I don't know how they "prefer" things. I do know that Chi O there is a great chapter with a strong tradition, and have heard that sometimes they have more legacies come through than spots available. Therefore, recs are extremely important. I would think a rec from any Chi O is great, but from a local alumna is really great. It never hurts to cover all your bases!

Good luck to you daughter. The LSU greek system is full of outstanding chapters so hopefully she will find her home.

I agree 100%! My little sister went through rush at a Big 12 School this past fall and was a legacy for two chapters. I wrote a rec for Chi O (of course) and had some of MY sorority sisters do the same. Unfortunately I couldn't get a hold of a girl I know who had gone to the chapter my sister was rushing. I have a feeling if I'd gotten a rec from someone FROM that chapter, my sister wouldn't have gotten cut as early.

There are so many legacies that go through though, and the chapters can't typically take them all.

Best of luck!
