Random thoughts

Since we haven't got a thread to chatter about whatever is on our mind, here goes:

It's COLD! Is it summer yet?

LOL not for another couple months!

Doing Christmas shopping a month after everyone else is GREAT! No crowds! (We're doing family 'Christmas' on Friday - and we get to meet my youngest brother's girlfriend whose from Alabama and this is her first real winter! We're taking her snowmobiling, ice skating on a pond, etc)

How do you explain the purpose of ice fishing? Or, if not the purpose, just why people are crazy enough to do it?!

How about a Jaguar.

Here kitty..kitty..kitty..I keep calling, but all that ever shows up is one of my two cats.

Oooh, here's a tip:

if you need a facial and can't get one for whatever reason, try The Body Shop's Warming Mineral Face Mask. It is heaven, especially now that it's so darned cold.

Oh heck, while I'm at it...if you're looking for fun chapter programming, check out your local 'Body Shop at Home' consultant. Their "Girls Night Out" spa and pampering shows are a blast. Even better, their retail prices are quite reasonable and the products are addictively wonderful. They also are very community and globally conscious and VERY pro-women! If I didn't already sell my beloved PartyLite candles, I'd be tempted to join myself!

Hint for SnowLady, one of my good friends just started with BSaH, and I know she'd love to do a spa show for the CAC if we'd ever be interested.

Hello all-

Did any of you get a lot of snow this weekend? The NE looked terrible! What do you all do up there when you have to stay inside for so long?

B, you can't go wrong in the snow and cold with a good book (as in, reading for FUN and not school or work), hot cocoa, a cozy warm blanket, and if you're lucky, some good ole Kentucky Basketball on TV.

Yes, that last one was all special just for Sarah. Resistance is futile.

Silver - you are silly! LOL

What do we do inside when it's cold outside? Well. . . . . for me, I pretend to clean/unpack my house! Others find other interesting things to do (which is why you have LOTs of babies born in the fall up here in the northwoods!). Actually, life usually goes on as normal - because extreme cold (-20s and lower with windchills) IS normal up here in January and February. We just make sure to start our cars at least 15 minutes to get it warmed up or have a block heater on the car to help out. I had classes canceled once while an undergrad because it was too cold - mind you it was -50 with -70 windchills (froze an ear as well as mild frost bite).

Sarah

P.S Oh yeah, and with the snow, you just get some really developed back muscles from shoveling the ick left by the snow plows. Oh, and learn to shovel, walk, etc when you can't feel your legs! LOL

Resistence works when you don't have cable or an antenna for your TV!! :P I can't rightly head over to my parents' house to watch a basketball game - "Gee Mom, I just need to watch this game because my friends down south are making me watch college basketball!" She would SO send me back home!! ("Don't you have anything better than you need to work on at your house? How are your classes coming? How is your unpacking/cleaning going? Do you have your dining room floor refinished yet? Etc.")

Sounds like some of the stuff we do when we are locked in during a hurricane. (except we have no power and it is 100 degrees inside).....

I can't imagine any temperature below O! When I was in high school, they cancelled class because it got down to 20 (couldn't operate the buses)! Actually this past week I heard on the radio that Miami did get snow flurries back in 1978, and people were going crazy. I guess if you are used to a lot of snow, then it is no big deal. But do your cars get messed up when they are totally covered in snow?

Nah, but I just bought a new battery for the mom-mobile and it sleeps in a garage at night.

I have a block heater on my car - and it too sleeps in the garage (which it is very happy to sleep there after having not been in a garage for an entire year! You also make sure that you have an ice scraper in your car (with a snow brush attached). Oh yeah, you also make sure that your washer fluid is full so you don't run out while you are driving home from LaCrosse on the back roads (cuz there isn't any other way to go!) and can't really see out the windshield because of the salt! I don't think my baby could handle NOT living in winter (she's only been in WI, MI, IN, and KY - but sat most of the summer in KY because her clutch able went out).
