Angry I Am So Pissed Off Right Now!!!!!

I just got off the phone with an undergrad brother and he gave me some of the worst news Radford Univeristy Greek Life has faced in a while: no more intramural fraternity sports leuge. We play along with everyone else for all sports now. Hopefully random freshmen will be met and we can turn this negative into a postive, but, I'm all through with spitting out buzzwords.

That's how it is at Auburn...no Greek-specific league. Everyone's in the same one. Sometimes Greeks will play against random groups or campus organizations. It's not that bad, trust me.

In addition to the all campus league, could something as simple as 'single elimination tournaments' be held? Winner would help to determine the IFC champion. Or perhaps tournaments could be incorporated into Greek Week.

For example, Kentucky's Tri Delta chapter has a 'Frats at Bat' tournament that raises money for their philanthropy.

Thus, if y'all have - or had as the case may now be - a separate fraternity intramural champion, and would like to continue to do so, then you could award points for 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. - include participation points if you want - from these tournaments and use them toward the fraternity IM champion.

That is how it was before, only all year. Each org. had a team per sport. This was done in addition to the all campus league. I don't know what they're doing now (I'm an Alumnus, so will be withholding donations) but hopefully we won tonight.

former intramural chair

Non-greek organizations have always (as far as I can remember) been a part of UNA's intramurals. I assumed, sometimes, a group of independants would play some of the more fun intramural sports (softball, bowling, flag football etc). But, the greeks cared about winning to get the intramural points for the intramural trophy.

Also, the intermural trophy always went to a greek organization because we always played EVERY sport (including raquetball, basketball, etc), and usually the independents only played one or two as a group.

So, don't worry they will not have a negative effect on the greek system at your university.

Question

Billy if I read this right?

NO GREEK Inturmural League?

So, We at The Pitt. always had leagues that play Greeks and Dorms or Others! So, it aint the end of the world. Hell, what better way to meet GDIs? Recruitment any way helps!

Its loss of tradition. Ever since AXP played um...I forget, either Sig Ep or Pi Kap there has always been greek sports. The IFC is just plain lazy and didn't want to run it anymore. Or the adminstration is assholes.

I like UK's reason for divisions.

The University of Kentucky Intramurals Policies and Procedures

Quote:
Most sports will be conducted in four divisions:

(1) Greek, (2) Residence Hall, (3) Independent and (4) Co-Rec.

The division separations are followed in order to equalize competition, to present an avenue for everyone to participate, and to schedule competition according to organizational interests.
