My family loves motorola phones. I am the only one with a nokia. The phones work fine, but none of us have ever had a pay as you go plan. I don't know if that would make a difference.

I don't have that particular motorola but I've got a long history with motorola phones-and I love them!!! Plus-a one year warranty on the phone is a pretty good deal, just in case you do have problems with it!

That looks like the phone one of my coworkers has (definitely a Motorola) and she's had no complaints so far.
Also, my current a previous phones were both Motorola, and I like them a lot.

I have the Motorola V600. Your phone looks like a scaled down version of my phone for pay-as-you-go service.
It's an OK phone. I feel like it's heavy and big.
It's also slow to respond so it can get annoying hitting a button and waiting for a screen to appear - that's not when I pull up a java game but even the address book.
My other pet peeve is that the bluetooth on Motorola phones is handicapped by Motorola. There is a lawsuit right now over this. This is a big difference from my Ericcson phone where I can send files between my computer, synch the address book, use my computer to send text messages or make calls through my phone, and even use my phone as a remote control for my computer.
The funny thing is I had this phone 2 times. The first time I accidentally put my phone in the washer. It took a while to dry it out and I left it in front of a space heater. It worked but was weird so I returned it for a replacement.

Same here. I had a Motorola StarTac back in the day (circa 2001). I got it as a present back in December 2000. The first one I owned lasted until around May when I accidently dropped it in the pool. The phone still turned on (surprisingly) but it made all kinds of crackling noises and then would shut itself off. I got a new one that lasted until November. I HATED the phone. Like Rudey mentioned, it took forever for a screen to appear. I couldn't get good signal. It would also constantly drop my calls even if I had a full bar of signal.
From there I moved on to another Motorola which died on me after 3 months and then onto an LG which also died. Around December 2002, I got a Sanyo 4900 and I absolutely loved the phone. It always has great signal and the phone lasts forever. In fact, I just traded it in for a new phone last month (2 years later!). The only reason I did was because I wanted a smaller phone so I went with the updated version of my old phone: the Sanyo 4920.
If your cell phone company offers Sanyo phones, I highly recommend it. I have never had a problem with them and my friends who have a Sanyo haven't had problems either.

I forgot about the signal thing and all that. I swear if my Motorola drop another call or the signal goes from 1 bar to 4 bars, I will write a nasty email (I was thinking I could do something else but really I think all I can do is write an email);.
Truthfully, all phones I've had have these kinds of problems. I think my Nokia phone was the best. I destroyed that phone and it was missing the glass piece at the end.
Anyway, people shouldn't waste money on these phones. They suck and get somewhat better with time. None of them are "investments".

I LOVE my Motorolas - I must just have good luck w/ them. I, like ZTAngel, had the StarTac, which I got December of 1999. It lasted me until about March 2003, when the connection in the earpiece fizzled and I couldn't hear people talking but they could hear me.
I now have the V60i and it's great. It's all scratched up from where I've dropped it several times. But it's still going strong.
My husband, when we upgraded our plans in July 2002, got a Nokia, the one w/ the joystick (that's all I remember about it), b/c it was free. That died b/c he kept it in his pocket, and it's not an open/close phone, so it was constantly stressed out. (Poor phone!). He now has my same phone, except w/ a newer version of the software, and his has dropped calls and low signal bars all the time. He's very frustrated w/ it.
I have no information about your particular phone though. Just wanted to give a plug for Motorola.

I was just coming back to this thread to edit that into my post when I realized that you had already mentioned it. The same thing happened with my StarTac. At first, I thought people were mumbling or they weren't speaking loud enough but after constantly telling people that I couldn't hear them, I realized that it was my crappy phone.

I think there was a short in the connection. I spent about 6 months jiggling the ear piece and standing perfectly still once I got it so I could have a conversation on the stupid thing. It was definitely a pain in the butt.
