The Exorcism Of Emily Rose

Has anyone seen the previews of this movie? It's supposed to be based on a true story... the trailer is pretty good but I am rather skeptical that it is a true story. Anyway seems pretty interesting if your into that kinda of stuff!

I saw the trailer w/no sound & didn't think it was that big a deal. Then I turned on the sound & it was uber-creepy. I'm curious enough that I may watch it but not alone b/c I'm a big chicken of movies like this.

OMG - i think this looks freaky as hell! Do you know they recorded the exorcism in real life and the tape still exists somewhere? That's what you hear in the beginning of the trailer...creepy, eh?

This is SO on the top of my list to see...

Plus, I'm a huge fan of Laura Linney - she's such a good actress, imho.

I never saw The Exorcist, The Beginning...bad, hunh?

I really think this movie is goign to be freaky and not cheesy at all...I just can't see Laura Linney in a cheesy movie. The commercials I've seen on MTV recently are awesome.

I thought so. I rarely go see movies like that because I get too freaked out...but I took a chance and went to go watch this in the theater. Halfway through the movie I couldn't help it anymore and just started laughing at all the cheesy computer animation. There are some creepy parts of the movie, but overall it is REALLY BAD. I feel stupid for even feeling scared about that movie.

Well I really have no desire to see this movie but I did check out the link to the site and personally I think she was probably manic. I'm open to things happening, but I'm just not sure about posession.

Wow... I once thought of naming my daughter Emily Rose. No freakin way now.

Besides, that was a while back... I now wanna call her Daisy Jane. (No, I'm not pregnant; this is just a sometime in the indefinite future kind of thing.)

They had pictures and some of the tape shown on Entertainment Tonight today (8/25). I don't know if she was truly possessed, but man those pictures were FREAKY!!

I found this on a website & thought I'd share it with you folks.

Anneliese Michel

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Anneliese Michel (September 21, 1952 - July 1, 1976) was a German college student who died during an exorcism. Her parents and the priests who carried out the exorcism were later convicted and sentenced to six months in prison. The Church soon after declared that Anneliese was not possessed.

Born into a lower-middle class Catholic family in Klingenberg, a small Bavarian town, Anneliese had poor health for much of her life, suffering from seizures which plagued her high school years. Despite this she was able to begin University of Würzburg in September, 1973, where she majored in Elementary Education.

A film has now been made based on Michel's experiences and death, written and directed by Scott Derrickson, titled The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005).

Health
Anneliese's seizures were intense and worrisome for her and her parents. They involved spasms, unconsciousness, and trance states. She saw a neurologist in Aschaffenburg several times, and was diagnosed with epilepsy, of a type called 'Grand Mal.' Goodman asserts that her EEGs were consistently normal and that the neurologist, whom she is only able to refer to as 'Dr. L,' assumed epilepsy for lack of a better explanation of her symptoms. The anticonvulsant Dilantin was prescribed to her by Dr. L on either her second or third visitation with him. It was to this doctor that she eventually confided, despite the expected disbelief, that she had visions of grimacing, devilish faces. Dr. L purportedly mentioned that a Jesuit might be consulted, though he hotly denied that claim later.

Goodman's Timeline
Sept 1968 First, brief blackout, next day convulsions, bit tongue.
Aug 1969 Similar, family doctor refers Dr. L.
Jan 1970 Multiple unrelated illnesses force Anneliese into an Aschaffenburg hospital, then later to a sanatorium in south Bavaria.
June 1970 Seizure at sanatorium, medication prescribed by local neurologist.
Aug 1970 Discharged from sanatorium.
Sept 1970 Seizure
June 1972 Seizure, last. Sees Dr. L again. Dilantin by this time at least.
Sept 1973 3rd and final visitation with Dr. L, confides about grimaces. New meds in addition to Dilantin, may have suggested inquiry with the Church. *Factuality disputed
