Rock-A-Thon Slogans...
Hi ya'll. I need some help. My chapter's PR committee is scrabbling to try and come up with some catchy slogans for a banner and some flyers for our annual Rock-A-Thon. We thought we'd have a little more time to get things together, but the Rock-A-Thon is the first day of classes in January...as in January 5th! Any ideas? Thanks!

I don't know what Rock-A-Thon is, but my friend had a band t-shirt that said "Rock on with your frock on" and I think it's damn hilarious.

A Rock-A-Thon is when you collect pledges or donations and rock in rocking chairs for however long the event is. Our event is 10 hours. So, we'll be in the student union for 10 hours rocking back and forth in rocking chairs. It's one of our bigger fundraisers for the Foundation and the NKF.

I've seen lots of chapters with shirts that just say "Phi Sig ROCKS" on the front or back, with the rock-a-thon info on the other side of the shirt.... sounds lame, but they're really cute!

wow, another Beta Omega sister for a change. How cool is that?
You could try-
Rock-Me-Baby
Rock-N-Roll
Phi Sig Rocks (is a classic)
AEPi has a website for theirs ( here) and the graphic could be adapted and just call it the Rock-A-Thon.

We do our Rock-a-thon in October... so we call it Rocktoberfest.
This year we made shirts that looked like the hard rock cafe shirts.
On the front
It said: "Phi Sig Rocks" inside the circle (which was gold sparkly. super cute)
under the circle where the city would go it said: "ROCKTOBERFEST"
On the back it said:
"Rockin' Hard since 1913"
I have extras actually. I just need to get a pic of them on the web so you all can check them out and buy them!
Good Luck with your rock-a-thon Beta Omega!!

One on my sisters and I went to the Justin Timberlake concert and got shirts that said "Phi Sigma Sigma Rocks Your Body" We thought it would be a cute slogan for the Rock-A-Thon as well.

I'm bumping this up because I need advice.
The chapter I'm advising is trying to pull together a rock-a-thon- since they've been told that a "people auction" that they've been doing is against the human dignity policy.
But, they really are NOT enthusiastic about it and in fact debated with me yesterday if there was any way they could still do an auction: they formed a committee to look into how they could do it w/o breaking policy.
So, any ideas? They just think it's the lamest thing ever. (they've never seen one). Not to mention, getting space in the mall is a big pain (lots of regulations). They didn't want to do it in the student centre since they don't think they can raise enough money that way.
so any suggestions on how to make a rock-a-thon fun?
or even if you have any suggestion on how to do a charity auction without "selling" the women would be appreciated.

My chapter has thought about doing an "auction" but having the girls make a dinner and auctioning off their dinner, not themselves.
I dunno.. rock a thon does kinda conjure up images of granny and knitting, which I'm sure the chapter doesnt' want to be associated with, but still can't they just give it a chance and try and work it out ??!! Geezz.. sounds like they have a kidna bad attitude !!

I think the bad attitude stems from us (the higher-ups) telling them they couldn't do their auction which last year raised $700 and the year before $1000.
Before this, our donation to foundation was piddly.
The dinner idea is a possibility. I think right now they are looking at getting doantions and raffling those off. (they're still waiting to hear back from the Mall)

ok, i plead my ignorance here, but i thought all chapters had to do rock-a-thons for the foundation donation.

No, chapters don't have to do rock-a-thons. It's just one suggestion. In past years we used to just put foundation donation as part of the dues and did nothing. But then we got smart and started fundraising for it.

We do our Rock-A-Thon every year in the beginning of spring at the intersection of the (only) traffic light in our town, which is the intersection everyone has to go through to get onto campus. We rock on whatever we can find that year, last year we had a porch swing, with a couple girls rocking and the rest taking donations from the cars coming through the intersection. And we do it for an entire 24 hours. It works out very well every year and the other sororities and fraternities on campus have started to do their own "(insert random verb here)-A-Thons" because we have so much success with it. We're still the only organization on campus who does it for an entire 24 hours though so we're most known for it.
