Smile new Zeta Nu chapter at UNF

hey everyone,

I am a founding father of the newest chapter of Kappa Alpha Order. We are the Zeta Nu chapter at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. We recieved our charter on January 18, 2002. I just wanted to let everyone know that we are the newest chapter, and are working our hardest to recieve an Ammen award! We are currently working on getting Old South in the end of March or early April. Does anyone have any suggestions on raising money for this big event as a new chapter??

Congratulations on your new charter brother. I hope everything works out for you guys.

What chapter intiated your men? Have you taken any pledges yet?

My advice for money to fund Old South? Pass around a collection jar at meeting, have some of your activies kick in a buck or two. That might pay for some small stuff for your Old South week. Maybe a fishing tournament, a golf scramble, or just about any number of things could do the trick. I dont know the demographics of your school, but I bet you a million dollars that you could raise lots of money this time of year in the south with a fishing tournament.

new chapter

thanks man,

the chapters that initiated 24 of our men were Beta Zeta (UF), Gamma Eta (FSU), and Delta Theta (GSU). we had our first ever ZN golf tourney in the fall to raise money for MDA, and we are having a first ever bowling tourney in april for MDA. i think we have made a decision to have our Old South in the Fall of 2002, but haven't quite made the final decision yet. i know there will be many unhappy girls if we don't, which sucks, but you gotta do what ya gotta do! thanks for the ideas on raising money

I saw Georgia State and Florida do a intiation at Nationals in Savanah this year. They both did a hell of a job. I would assume that it is hard for a new chapter that doesnt have money behind them to pull off Old South, but I would get with some other chapter in your province and find out about doing your Old South with another chapter, maybe yall can still pull one off this spring.

Keep coming back to GC bro, I need all the backup I can get around here.

Yeah I saw the initiation two this summer in Savanah. It was awsome. Godd luck to your new chapter. Sounds to me like you are on a damn good start. Here is a thing we do for fundraising. We have a date action. It is a lot of fun and the girls love it. Just a thought.

Lightbulb fundraiser idea

Holding a softball tournament is a great, fairly easy way to make money for Old South or any other costly event. The fraternities and sororities have to pay a registration fee to play the games, and the winning girls' team and guys' team get trophies. You can do a round robin tournament or a double elimination tournament, whichever is easiest for your chapter to organize.

Charge $3-4 per person to watch the games (everyone wants to see their GLO play another GLO), and you can get t-shirts made up for the event to sell, also.

GOOD LUCK!!

Talking Beta Class of Zeta Nu

Hello,

I was recently initiated into Zeta Nu chapter as Beta Class, didnt know there is an online chat site. KAZNfuzzy (yes you Matt!) should have mentioned it : ) We recently held our Old South, which was fantastic! We held it at the downtown Radisson. What a time that whole week was! We are now working on putting together a fishing tournament this spring.... we think it will be a big hit if it goes the way we plan. KA by the grace of God!!!

Ryan
