Damn NYC Parking Tickets
I got a $165 parking ticket this morning by a hospital. It said I was parked at a "Pedestrian Ramp". I saw no signs, and no ramps. There was nothing but sidewalk and fence (no gates, no inclines, no yellow lines, no nothing). I think it is total BS. Has anyone been successful in getting out of a parking ticket and what did you say? I am planning to go back this weekend and take a picture.

I got out of a parking ticket by taking pictures at the time of day/same lighting as when I parked and showed a very very faded, unreadable parking sign which sat in a shadow of a tree.
They replaced the sign a week later!

I got one of those big orange stickers on my car window in nyc that take a like a week to scrape off. It was because i parked on a street that was meant to be cleaned.

Years ago I got a parking ticket in NYC on a rental car. I figured, they won't bother tracking me down.
Wrong.
About two years later, I got a summons.

I spoke to one of my Deepher sisters over the weekend who is a doctor at this particular hospital where I got the ticket. She said she got 3 tickets for the same thing. Apparently, the parking police haven't caught on yet to the fact that there is a permanent fence that has been built where these pedestrian ramps used to be (or they just don't care to catch on). In any event, she says she has taken pictures all 3 times, sent them in, and gotten out of the ticket. It is just so much unneccessary aggravation to go through.

Well, I went to meet with the judge last week, pics in tow, and he just didn't wanna hear it. Period. He was a bas-tard. So I had to suck it up and pay the damn ticket. This one was for all us "little people" here in NYC (and all other money-hungry places) on me. Yeah, I guess I could've appealed but he also wrote this long drawn-out statement that would most likely not work in my favor. Damn, I hate the City of New York!!!!

I heard about this site in the paper this weekend, apparently they are retired cops, parking authority people, lawyers etc that help you fight the ticket.
I don't know if its any good, but for future use: http://www.parkingticket.com/
BTW: Its only available in NYC, DC, and SanFran. But I think its supposed to spread to New Orleans and more cities.
