I NEVER EVER want to hear someone say LIKE 30 times in the same sentence again. Also, when people are speaking and they make everything sound like a question.

"So, like, yeah? So, we like went? To the like store? And we met like this really like fine guy? And I like got his number?"

So aggravating.

Thumbs down

"heart of hearts"

I hate to hear the word "like". I have made it my personal mission to stop using that word. Grrrr!

That's funny...I really like the term "womyn"

I have heard kids at the local HS saying "psych"... OMG I feel old when I start to laugh at them and say that that was cool when I was in about 4th grade... mainly b/c I don't want to be one of those ppl like my parents who always commented on how bell bottoms were cool when THEY were in HS

librasoul22,

Oh frabjas day, callou, callay! (With apologies to Lewis Carroll). Let the bells peal with joy - we have found something to agree on!

Although I happen to have very strong reservations regarding capital punishment I might make an exception in the case of a "Like" sayer.

Wait, impact is a noun, so I think you mean you don't like when it's used as a verb, or a made-up adverb like, "IMPACTFUL." Right? Because I absolutely abhor that. I can't tell you how many ridiculous Power Point Presentations I've sat through with arrogant execs telling me how "impactful" their new program is going to be. PUHLEEZE.

Here's my partial list:

"revamp"

"radar screen" (as in, "I have a lot of things on my radar screen right now")

The head of my department at work says those two things all the time. It pisses me off. I will probably remember more after our departmental meeting tomorrow morning.

BTW, I say "like" all the time and I can't help it. Most of the time, I don't even realize I'm saying it unless someone points it out to me. Actually, I saw on the news awhile back that a linguist studied the recent evolution of the word like and she found something like 56 uses for it. It was pretty interesting.

I wish people would stop using words that don't really exist, like irregardless, conversate and disorientated.

I agree! Or how about my favorite: uncomfortability.
Seriously, it's not even easy to say...why am I hearing it all over the place?

My torts prof is always saying "irregardless, as we say in South Louisiana..." I don't think most of the class got the joke.

I also hate to hear "the bomb" and "my bad" I've never said those phrases because I think they're stupid.

Angry Solutions are a problem

Solutions. I'm a business journalist and if I ever hear someone saying "we provide a seamless, end-to-end solution," I want to reach through the phone and give the flaq an open-handed slap to the mouth.
