Smile A WHITE Christmas

Okay, okay so most of you don't think that having a white Christmas is a big deal, but I am visiting my parents in DEEP South Texas, think the very southern tip, and the last time there was any recordable snow was 1895. It snowed once when my Grandad was a young man, but that was just a bit on the ground. Anyway, the conditions were just right and we had a white Christmas!

Yes, yes I have lived in a bit of snow and ice before, but not in this area. I didn't believe the weathercasters yesterday! It started snowing last night about 11pm and when I woke up this am, before 7 (really too early for me) everything outside was covered in snow! We took so many pictures and then had snowball fights.

I know some of you are in the snow all winter and don't think this is all that big of a deal, but this is the place where a couple of days ago, I was wishing for my shorts and t-shirts! I was in the 80s a few days ago and will be again 80 in a few days! What fun!

I do have to say that I wouldn't want to live in the snow and ice everyday. My parents lived in upstate NY and Iceland for a few years and their stories are enough for me. This taste on Christmas was just enought for me.

Merry Christmas!

Hope you don't mind me barging in, but...

We got about 5-6 inches here in Corpus Christi, TX. It began to lightly hail at around 7pm and began snowing at about 10pm. Although we all saw the inches of snow that fell last night, nothing beat the view this morning -- a VERY White Christmas! I have pictures to prove it!

WOOHOO FOR SOUTH TEXAS SNOW!!!!!!!

My dad was really bummed when he heard he missed snow in north texas by 3 days.. and he sang "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" all evening on the 23rd.

Surprisingly, at around 10 am we started getting ice pellets... then we heard on the news that we'd be getting snow. We didn't think it would be much.. maybe a flurry or two.... but we got TWELVE INCHES on Christmas eve!!!! It was sooooooo awesome. A lot of people didn't come to our annual christmas party (understandably because the roads were pretty scary) but we had a good time with those that did show up. We made a HUGE snowman (finished it at 3 AM ... about the time it stopped snowing @ my house ) and put a big cowboy hat on it!

My dad was so excited! (Of course we all were!) It was the first time in about 30 years that my hometown had any kind of snow. It was sooooooo gorgeous!!! Our house, and entire lawn was filled with snow. We couldn't even see the grass.

Christmas day as we drove to my aunt's house, just about every house had a snowman... it was the cutest thing ever.... and def. the best Christmas!
