ABC's "The Bachelor"...Did anyone watch?
I'm not sure if this is already a thread, but did anyone catch "The Bachelor" last nite?
Sigh, I don't know why I watch every season, but I like Bob, and he's slimmed down alot too.
That broad crying hysterically at the end had me thinking, WTF? How can you be crying over a man you just met 10 minutes ago, and say you're heartbroken, when you only chatted with him for like 5 minutes?

I watched for about five minutes.
Those girls are craaaaaaazy! How are they like in love with this man after what, 2 hours of tv time total? He seemed nice at first, but he is morphing into a total fame whore, a la Trista and Ryan. Every time that mentioned their wedding during Miss America I wanted to throw up!

The girl crying at the end either has emotional problems or was just acting. You just met the guy. How could you be so in love with him.
This crop of girls were so fake. Come on, now chanting Bob's name.
I'm glad he didn't pick the twins. That was stupid to put them as one of the contestants.
I thought the surprise guest was going to be either Trista or Ryan or Bob's ex-wife. How come we couldn't hear the reason why he divorced? It's like the voice over talked over his explanation.

They may have just met him, but they have been lusting after him since the Bachelorette. These girls have decided that they are the perfect girls for Bob and when Bob was named as the next Bachelor, people flooded the contest with tapes and panties and phone numbers and flowers just so that they could get a taste of what Bob had to offer. I remember Oprah said that when she had him on the show (more than once) that he was one of the guests that she got the most e-mail about. Those girls are treating this man like he is some kind of a rock star when he is an ex-chunky, ex-football star who tells a lot of jokes and kisses a lot of girls.
Here's a quick question: what brings people to this point? I am not sure how kosher is it to compete with twenty-four other women to find the man of my dreams. I am not dating anyone right now and I know that I would love to find the right person for me, but I just don't see the win-win in this situation. All kinds of women from all kinds of different backgrounds with all kinds of different priorities and morals pulling out all of the stops to win a boy who is going to pick the one who goes the farthest emotionally and physically.
All of these criticisms mean nothing -- I watch the show and will continue to watch the show. I think it is funny that the girl at the end starting crying and said that she was so crushed and heartbroken . . . "how could he do this to me?" That had to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen. But it is going to get funnier. These girls are going to get catty and *itchy and I am just waiting for one of them to fall out -- the sneak peek ("this season on The Bachelor") showed the someone is going to need an ambulance and someone is going to watch to hit someone else . I am already amused. I am feeling a little bit superior . . .
As far is picking the girl that is "of persuasion," I think that the picker likes to make himself look like he doesn't have a problem with interracial dating (whether he does or not). None of them ever make it that far . . . during the second season (I didn't watch the first), the Asian girl decided that she didn't want to go through the rose ceremony because he didn't convince her that he would be comfortable dating outside of his race. I bet she's glad she did because ended up being a real heel and dumped the girl he chose in the end.

Of course I watched the show -- I am a reality junkie -- at this point, I am watching Big Brother, Sorority Life, Fraternity Life, The Real World (oh and I will be watching The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet) and Newlyweds -- and I watched a couple of episodes of Paradise Hotel, but I am not sure what the rules are to the game.
Oh and I watched a show on ABC Family called Perfect Match New York where the person wants to find the perfect match -- let's say it is a boy, the girl has two of his friends or relatives on a panel with a relationship expert and they pick between twenty or thirty woman (can't remember). The girls that are picked to live with the boy in his house/apartment for a week and at the end of the week, the girl moves out and another girl moves in -- long story short, at the end of the three weeks, the boy can choose one of the girls that stayed with him or can choose one from one of the girls who is left over after the panel chooses at the beginning. I am not explaining it efficiently, but I like the show.

I thought they said that the marriage failed because he was putting too much time into starting his business.

hey ya'll.....
Ok, so me and my roomate were watching the show the other night, and were immediately hooked. We were hoping for all the minorities to make it in. By the way that Bob acts I don't think he would have a problem with interracial dating. I would be interested in finding out if he has before. The one thing that I noticed after his mom had met everyone and she was talking to Bob. He asked her which were the top three that stood out in her mind. She said the black girl was nice and genuine and gorgious. I thought that was really cool. The only thing is in the previews for the coming season they really didn't show the black girl too much, but then again on Joe Millionaire they didn't show the girl that he ended up picking in the previews for that show either....so I don't know. We'll just have to see I guess.

IMHO, the producers probably encourage the bachelor/bachelorette to pick at least 1 minority in the first round for political correctness and not to be viewed as an equal opportunity show.
I was surprise when Bob's mom mentioned the Black girl as one of her top choices.
I don't get the Bob mania.

I watched the Bachelor and was hooked immediately too! These girls were wack to me!!! I didn't have ten good picks. I gotta give it to my sistas though: they are looking good! How about I'm trippin' that one of the girls is from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota--that's like ten minutes from me. She's so pretty too...dang, she gave up on the brothas here, I guess. Back to the show...I can't stand LeeAnn or whoever her name is. She's not pretty to me. I couldn't believe he voted for her. I'm excited about this show. Yeah, Bob was kissin' a lot of women in that preview they showed. I didn't see the black girl in the very end of the preview, which shows me that she won't be making it to the very end.
My LS and I were talking and we came to the conclusion that they need a black bachelorette. See if they did a black bachelor, the sistas would get too catty, but the brothas would handle it well. What do you all think?

a black bachelor would be hilarious. america would see how sistas can truly act over a man. i don't think they will ever do a minority bachelor/bachelorette though. america's not ready, and i don't think the ratings would be as high...so sad, but true...

I think that BET, if they wanted to do it, would be the logical outlet. I've given up hope that BET will do high-minded, challenging programs.
If a black bachelor was on, they need to mix up the women who are vying for his attention and affection. You need a mix of "seditty" and not-so-seditty women. Or as Benilde Little would describe it, "BAPs, Afrotiques and commoners."

No, they said it in the beginning of this season when they were introducing him and showing his life.
