TX State Convention

So state convention for TX is being held in Beaumont April 1-3. Since Delta Beta is in Beaumont the collegiate members have the honor of providing the entertainment. My chapter has created a committee to plan for convention, and I have the pleasure of being the committee chair. So I was wondering if any of you alumnae or collegiate members have any suggestions. I was considering using the skit based on the Wizard of Oz. I saw this skit performed in ST. Louis, but I don't have a copy of the script. I am open for any suggestions though. Thanks!

HBADPi, wasn't you who once sent me a FR skit Eta Beta did (I believe the Grease one). It was an awesome skit!!!

I mean it was for FR but I bet any chapter could "adapt" it for something else.

I know there are other states who have Conventions, but TX is the biggest state Convention that I know of. Go figure, huh????

Anyway, why don't you just do something that the chapter already knows, such as something from recruitment, so you don't all have to stress about one more thing to do? Don't reinvent the wheel if you don't have to.

Sounds like it will be fun!

The reason that we are looking for something new is because our skit for recruitment is out-dated. We were using the Saturday Night Pi theme....and we want something new that we could also during fall recruitment. We are very excited and honored to be hosting it this year!

I went to TX State Convention a few years back. It was held in Midland and the Tech chapter was the "host" chapter. They performed their recruitment skit for us, it was a Lion King theme (I did say a few years back). You said that you are planning on changing your recruitment skit. If so, do you think that you would have something ready by convention?

I will probably be going with the San Antonio AA group. Since they moved the weekend to April, it's fits better with my schedule so I'm excited about getting to go! tabbi*girl, maybe I'll get a chance to meet you!

Hmm state convention. I would imagine that you would have to have permission from nationals to do that. When did it first start? I wish California did something like that, we have 10 chapters I think.

You don't need any type of permission from EO, you just need someone to organize it! Most of the time it is done through the alumnae. In TX there is a TX State Alumnae Association, and State Convention is basically their only meeting each year (besides the officers who meet a couple times a year). In Oklahoma it is the same way- the OK State Alumnae Association sponsors State Day. I think (?) TN also has state convention and I'm sure there are others but it is becoming less popular than it used to be.

In TX, they have different workshops to attend, Gift Mart and usually other vendors also, along with an official meeting and a nice luncheon and a more formal dinner. They also do Jewell Degree. I am guessing Tabbi*Girl's chapter is probably performing at the luncheon. At dinner they give out a lot of state awards and maybe some scholarships also. That's all I can remember but I'm sure there's more that I'm missing.

In OK they also have several state awards they give out and a nice luncheon where the collegians provide some type of entertainment. There is also an official meeting. I've only gone to one State Day in OK so I'm less familiar with their traditions.

I thnk it's a great chance for alumnae across the state to see each other and help promote ADPi within their state.
