Dick Clark Suffers Mild Stroke

BURBANK, Calif. - "American Bandstand" icon Dick Clark was hospitalized this week after suffering a mild stroke.

Clark, who turned 75 on Nov. 30, suffered the stroke this week, publicist Paul Shefrin said Wednesday, declining to give any details. He would only say Clark had been hospitalized in the Los Angeles area.

This makes me very sad. At least he seems to be doing okay!

I remember that episode of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air when Carlton asked Dick why it looks like he never aged. He's one of these "timeless" guys.

I hope he's okay.

Dick Clark hosted a party we had at the Western Cable Show a few years ago when I was in charge of production for TCI. The Pointer Sisters and Little Richard were the entertainment.

I directed the video re-enforcement (Big Screens -- 8 camera coverage -- which is a lot).

When I met him before the show, he was perhaps the most professional talent I've ever worked with. Total cooperation and not a hint of ego. His attitude was, "just tell me what you need me to do."

I also met his wife, of over 40 years, Carrie who was also a delight.

I certainly wish him all the best.
