have anyone ever

I was wondering if any frat or soror out there has written a proposal to there college about allowing them to get a frat or soror house on there campus. Heres the deal the college that i once attend has a house that they are not using and our advisor wants us to write up a proposal on getting the house, but we are having some difficulty putting the words together. So has anyone ever written up a proposal for there greek organization to recieve a house, if so can you all give me some pointers or an example of the proposal. Thank you all very much....

I realize you are a local and I was part of a NPC org, but nevertheless I took part in writing a proposal for the campus to give us a new house. We had 30 women and a house that held 4. Chapter had to be held in a classroom, despite our living room, because we were just too big. Ritual was a huge hazzard also. Our situation was a little different because we petitioned to have a larger common space, and not a specific house as we weren't really allowed to do that. Anyhow, we put together the most solid binder of information that was possible. First was a very clear letter from the Housing Director regarding why we wanted a new house, what our needs were, and how recieving that house would help us and the general college community. Then we had our membership lists. My chapter was only 3 so we had them all. But we proved that we had consistant numbers and they were growing. We listed all the clubs and activities that members were involved in, all of our projects - service, social and academic- we got letters of support from our advisors, the greek council, our DP, our Chapter Consultant and HQ - Nat'l pres even signed it. I know that last few won't be applicable, but look at your alumn group. Get their support in writing, your advisors, the greek council if you can. The biggest thing for us was proving how MUCH we would use the additional common space and proving that we could ALWAYS fill the house. Ohh- we also had our housing policy in the binder. It had contingincies secnarios and all that. Essentially we put together so much information we had them prove to us WHY we COULDN'T handle a bigger house.

I really do reccomend you poll members and see who would actually live in, and all that jazz. People will say they will, then pull out, especially when they are just starting to get a house. I would not reccomend having a house that houses much more than 1/2-1/3 of your org. All three of our fraternities had houses that were the same size they were, maybe 5-6 beds too many. With campus housing short, they had a lot of pressure and threats to fill them. It caused them to take guys just to keep a bed warm and that is a horrible situation to be in. (We also had two local sororities that had houses)
