What are some of the best, or worst, excuses you've used to get out of work or class or any other situation?

I'm pretty plain, use the have a doctor appt.

though when i got pulled over for speeding, the i have a curfew at 11:30 pm worked (and i was 24 at the time) HEHE :P

officer: why were you speeding miss?
me: I have a curfew officer
officer: what time is your curfew?
me: it's at 11:30 (it was 11:15 and i was like 15 minutes from home, w00t quick thicking on my part)
officer: how old are you?
me: 24, sir
officer: where do you live?
me: i live in _____, about 15 minutes from here, officer
officer: let me see your license and registration
me: hold on please, let me it (hands it to him)
he comes back a few minutes later
officer: Well, Allison, I'll let you go this time, just don;t do it again. Drive safer too. Bye
Me: Thank you sir, I will

P.S unmarked CHP cars are evil. lol

Strangly, I have found telling the truth has got me out of 2 speeding tickets.
1st time i was late for pole vaulting practie. as it turns out the police officer used to pole vault- score!
2nd time, i was late for an alumni brunch. based on past experience, i told the truth; his wife and daughter were in a sorority- score!

As for work/school- the doctor thing works well...especially because I am constantly at one doctor or anothers.

For work? I say "I won't be in today" That is all that is required. It's my time off to use as I wish! What a deal!

For speeding, I've been lucky too. I've told the truth and gotten away with warnings only.

Working at a school, you hear the best excuses.

My personal favorite was the mom who told me in a loud voice that her son had raging diarrhea all night & in the morning. He had taken some meds so he was fine & that's why he was late. They were waiting for the meds to kick in.

My favorite calling off work excuse was "I can't come in today because there's a cat giving birth in my closet." My supervisor at the time was a cat lover, so it was all good.
