Muslim parents urged to keep kids in anti-homophobia classes

Interesting article:

http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/natio...lim041117.html

Basically, a bunch of parents think that their children should be excluded from any class that dares teach tolerance towards same-sex couples and their children.

From the article: " The parents are upset that their children were shown videos during classes that depicted the feelings of children who get taunted at school because their own parents are homosexuals. The Muslim parents complained that the classes infringed on their religious beliefs. "

The education minister for the province says it best: "our public schools are there to engender respect, respect for people of different faiths and different sexual orientations."

You know what is amusing is that my (female) friend just returned from living in Saudi Arabia with her parents. Even though Saudi Arabia is the ultra strict on the religion side of things, it's a great place for gay male nurses to work.

And why, do you ask?
Unmarried men must live together and it's actually okay for them to hold hands & hug and kiss in public (probably not on the lips though) as this is something that straight Arab men do with each other and culturally, this is considered the norm.

Umm probably? Being gay is beyond being a normal crime.

In fact in Iran, the government pays for you to get a sex change rather than you be gay.
