I'm Engaged

I got engaged this past weekend to my boyfriend of 2 and a half years (he is a Lambda Chi). Monday night I had my candle-lighting so now I want to share my news with all.

Here is the post I made in my Livejournal:

About a month ago Matt and I went and picked out the ring. I went to the store wanting one type of ring but we both fell in love with the one I got. It is a simple round solitaire with a yellow gold band and platinum setting. Then three weeks ago Matt had lunch with my father and asked him for his permission to marry me. Of course my dad said yes.

Last weekend was the first weekend Matt and I have had free so Matt planned a romantic getaway for us. We went down to Lover's Key near Fort Myers Beach. He told them that we were getting engaged so they upgraded us to an awesome suite. The room was by far one of the best rooms I have ever stayed in. Friday, the first night, we were driving around looking for a seafood resturant to eat at when Matt pulled over at this small park on the beach. It was nearing sunset and we decided to walk down to the beach. We wanted to walk to the pointe but I had jeans on and the tide was rising so Matt had to carry me to the pointe. We then watched some dolphins feeding. They were so close. That is when he got down on one knee told me that he loved me and would I marry him. Of course I said yes. We then went to an incredible resturant with some of the best seafood I have ever had.

The following day we decide to go to Lover's Key State Park. We rented a double Kayak and decided to boat all around the little islands. It was low tide and we were paddling through a very muddy section when Matt set us off balance and tipped us over into the water. I nearly had a panick attack as I sunk into the mud up to my knees. After we eventually got back into the kayak things went back to normal. We paddled around and had a great time. That night we went to another seafood resturant but this time we had horrible service and matt left a penny as tip. We then played mini golf where I won. We both are extremely competitive when it comes to mini golf. The next morning we woke up got ready and were going to go to the free breakfast when I realized that it was daylight savings and that it was 7 in the morning. At least we were able to get going early.

Overall I had the best weekend in my life. I love Matt so much and I could not be happier.
