What's your ideal tv show
I always try to vision a television show that I know I would sit down and watch religiously every week, something at the caliber of the original 90210 and Melrose Place shows, since I can't find anything that I like watching in this way nowadays. I actually would love for there to be a show with Black college students dipicting the life of educated black students and their experiences, actually like A Different World, but a more up to date one. I think As The Sands Burn should be brought to the screen. Seems to me, like many of you have already said, that the majority of Black tv shows today are like Minstrel shows and are only exploitative comedy shows that don't realy add or promote any positive cultural aspects of Black American life. I mean, yes we love our Martins and Steve Harveys cuz their humor is often catered to "us", but where are the Cosby Shows and Different Worlds that depict the middle class enjoyment of life that Blacks more often than not experience? We don't only need to be shown as crime victims/inflictors, welfare cases, drug addicts, gang members, poor folk that the ER's, Chicago Hope's, and Law & Order producers depict as "reality".
What are some of your ideal shows that, if you could, would design and produce?
I really didn't mean to get off into my thoughts so deeply as to invoke a huge societal debate or discussion, this is actually meant to circulate tv show ideas. lol..so, please just answer my initial question...
