Sdt@fsu
hey all....
if any of you gals had read my thread posted previously about religion, you already know SDT has been asked to colonize at Florida State University(thanks again to everyone who answered my q's)
anyways, I just wanted everyone to know how EXCITED I am now that I have gotten the chance to meet some of the girls, and learn more about SDT. SDT has been doing PR things on campus, and they are defidently increasing awareness. I have also heard some rumors that a house was already bought.....good, right!?!!!
I am especially excited about SDT because I have a bunch of leadership qualities...(HS Student Body Pres. ect.), and I feel I could really contribute to the colony. Can anyone tell me about their experiences with a leadership position in SDT? What positions can be filled, and how much do you love what you do? (or hate sometimes)?
The recruitment process starts this thursday, sep. 2nd.... and I can't wait to learn more about all you classy ladies out there, and maybe one day become a sister!

I am so happy to see you so excited
I love everything that I have done for SDT: New Memeber Ed, Ass. Rush, Historian, Alumnae, Web, Secretary, Sisterhood, and currently I am VP and Scholarship. I love it b ecause I love my sisters, and the more work you put into it, the more reqwarding it is and the more fun you have.
I am not saying every second of it is fun, and I haven't cpmplained about having to do stuff, but it's worth it in the end.
Good luck and keep us updated
Love N Sigma's,
Caryn aka Buttonz

Good news!!! I love SDT thus far. I went to the first informational meeting, and the philanthropy party where we made these cute kid puzzles. But it is so exciting because there are over 200 girls that are going through recruitment. They are only taking 137 or some number like that, but they are really happy that there is such an interest.
I guess in the early 80's SDT was here, but they didnt generate any interest what so ever, so all of the girls are really excited that so many want to be a part of SDT.
Today I went through informal chats, and I got the chance to speak to the national president, and see her veiw of what SDT is, and what she hopes it will become, and that made me want to be a part of the org. so much more. She said that there are sororities on campus have stigmas, some are the barbie doll groups, some are the all blondes.. ect. and this is our chance for a fresh start, to carve out how we want the campus to veiw us. I LOVE THAT.
I really think that SDT is rooted in something deeper than a lot of other sororities that I know of. Atleast, the girls who are coming together, and wanting to make it work find something of more intrinsic value than basing it on a sorority's reputation.
Oh.. AND... all of the other sororities and frats are so supportive. There is already dinner invites and mixers in the works. There hasnt been a new sorority on campus for some time now.
well i have to go get ready for the formal gathering tonight. Talk to you soon! and i'll keep you posted!

BID DAY!!!
I GOT A BID!
Last night was so special, it made me realize just how much SDT meant to me already, and suddenly I became very nervous that I may not be able to be a part of this if I did not get a bid. All of the sisters from across the country stood up and read poems, and told stories of why their experiences have been so significant, and tried to parlay the feeling of pride they had for passing the torch on to a new group of girls. I really can't even put it into words... like the feeling of opening yourself up and hoping that SDT would be successful, and their hope that all the girls could understand the importance of being a part of SDT. I am sure you all understand what I mean though.
But I was much releived and so very thrilled to have received a bid this morning!
Later today we are having our formal pledging ceremony. I feel so honored!

A Big Congrats
GONOLES,
Congrats sweetie. When I saw that you got a bid, I seriously got goosebumps...I am a dork, I know. I felt that way when I got my bid. I love SDT! Pref was a special night for me when I went through recruitment. Then after I was initiated, Pref took a whole new meaning. I was now telling others why I loved SDT so much and hoped that they would feel the same was I do. I can't wait for Recruitment this year so that I can experience it again. Enjoy your colonizing/pledge period. I am sure that in no time, that SDT will be part of your life, even if you don't realize it...Just by the way that you do things, etc...
Keep us all updated on everything.
In SDT,
Elena
