My old roommate is in Scotland studying now, and she's gone to Europe several times using different websites to find her airfare. Her favorite is studentuniverse.com, but you obv. have to be a student to use that. She uses Expedia sometimes, and if you're looking to get to Europe, she says Iceland Air has really good rates, but they only fly out of BWI.

You can also sign up for tickers from different airlines and see what their web specials are. Sorry I'm not much help!

If you are flying up to Canada or within Canada, Jetsgo and Westjet have low prices.

My old boyfriend was an international and he used to go on SkyAuction all the time to get his tickets since he would usually fly home for visits about 3 times a year. Once, when I went with him, he got our tickets from New York to London for about $275 each. That's cheap! Granted, we weren't on Delta or any of the big-name carriers...we had to go on Air India, but it wasn't that bad--definitely worth saving the money.

Iceland Air has really good deals. They're trying hard to get people to spend more than their layover in Rejkavik.

Most recently I went through STA---I got a ticket from JFK to Bangkok for $800, after taxes. You don't HAVE to be a student; if not, you can get a Youth card and that will cover you until you're 25.

Umm... not a website, but purchase the paper when they have the travel section and take a look at the sales. I've seen ridiculously cheap flights listed that way. It's actually the only way my family purchases tickets to england ...

Although, I should note you'll need to be flexible on when you leave since it's usually restricted.

I would suggest three things: First, know the going rate for your flight. You won't be able to tell a bargain unless you know what it CAN cost! Second, go to every airlines' site that you would consider flying, and sign up for their notifications. Third, www.cheapseats.com - I'm sure people have gotten better rates, but no one I've heard about!

Have fun!

One of my favorite travel sites is www.travelzoo.com. You can sign up for weekly email newsletters where they will highlight some pretty good deals. If you can be flexible with your dates you can find some decent deals on there, especially with the big airports (JFK, DC, Boston, LA). I was able to go to Paris my junior year for spring break for 200 bucks. My senior year I remember seeing a deal to Puerto Rico from NYC for like 109 round trip and a bunch of the sisters were thinking of going for our long weekend break in October. Definitely worth checking out and it's also a good place to check for last minute deals for cruises and hotels.

Thumbs up Asian tickets

Depends on where you are going, really. Within Europe, try RyanAir or EasyJet. Fly to London from US is not that expensive, then continue on with these flights.

For Asian travel, I prefer to call 1-800-2-BORNEO (This is an Indonesian travel agent, but they speak English, of course ).
I recently purchased a ticket from Atlanta-Jakarta (during Christmas and New Year) for $970, saving about 600 bucks.

Good luck on your traveling!
