Commission-only jobs

Does anyone have a commission-only job? If so, about how much do you ACTUALLY make, and have you ever had periods of times making NO sales and starving?

Someone asked me about this for trading. I have no idea what you're doing but I think the basic principals should apply to you:

1) Supposedly this opens up a world with more potential income.
2) Some places even ask you to invest so you're more motivated to do well.
3) However, more than likely you will not make that much early on and most people are not that successful throughout their career.
4) A larger more established company will train your properly and invest in you (not the other way around).

These are usually not worth it...

Well, lots of people make a killing off of commission-only jobs. I just really want to know what a normal person makes.

Who?

Have you seen these numbers?

Have they been audited?

I'm not saying that lots of people don't, but I try and always push people away from things like this because they are often very shady.

Commission Only Jobs

If you're thinking about going into a Commission only job the best advice would be to start out by taking a loan directly into your savings while your getting your feet wet. I would suggest taking out $15K and dumping it directly into a savings account so you don't starve the first year.

I have seen Loan Officers make as much as a million a year and others make as little as $35K a year. If you're experienced and have developed an infrastructure with a big fat pipeline that is constantly bringing in new leads then often times a company will give sign on bonuses to get you in the door. Other times they will give you draws. I have seen some LOs with regular draws on top of their commissions and others with only limited draws. It has a lot to do with who you are and how you're going to help boost the company's net earnings in the next year.
