Am I the only one that multicultural sororities are a joke? This series of 'events' just seems like an attempt to assert the fact that their are a respectable organization. HAHA.

"Multicultural"... Aren't they supposed to not discriminate? Or is it all the "colored" girls that weren't given bids by the real sororities?

Well, any sorority outside the Pan Hellenic thing is for that. Most prominently is DNZ (Delta Nu Zeta) all those girls couldn't get into a real sorority so they started their own. And yes this one is for 'colored' people who cant get into a real sorority so they decided to start their own to mimic the old fashioned sorority tradition.

There are white people in Theta Nu Xi too, idiots. And what is a real sorority anyway? At least you should know what you're talking about before you comment. Their sorority is for anyone, not just "colored people."

TLH you have no respect whatsoever (Not to mention you're 15 million times uglier than I). BUT anyways, please don't talk like you're someone special because you're NOT... and nowhere close to it too.

Multicultural sororities are fairly new to FSU... I'm thinking it's only been around less than 10 years... and guess what! The purpose is to promote Multiculturalism...and America IS Multicultural.
We try to set goals and accomplish it. YOU have no idea that we also work hard to contribute something good in the community. You wouldn't know about it cus You're so ignorant.

It's funny because you're from where, South America? and you have the nerve...

It's funny to read some of these comments. Why do some of you speak on a subject you know nothing about? Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority has only 1 woman whose ethnicity is completely African American. The rest of the sorority is composed of several different ethnicities. If a person is bi-racial or of many different ethnicities, why should they be limited to a sorority that is predominately black or white? None of these women were ever interested in any other organizations, therefore could not have been refused a bid. Another thing that is interesting to me is the fact that some people are so negative towards something that is such a positive thing for the community. If you just don't know..come to the union on a Wed. and get educated.

Colored isnt just black. Now, I dont think Im special; I KNOW I am special.

I never said you were not good looking honey, you are probably very attractive; so dont go putting words in my mouth.

You have the freedom to do as you wish and enlist in any organization you want. I am glad you are working hard to contribute to the community. This idea of sororities is an old fashioned elitist idea, because you have to be approved to join. It would be good to have these so called 'normal' sororities accept girls that are not barbie dolls; but they dont, so you have to start your own; I am guessing you are trying to be like them.

No, I'm not attractive at all; I just looked at your pics ... maybe you should look at yourself first before you judge others. I know It was kinda mean that I said you were ugly, I had to say it because I was frustrated with the things you were saying.. ANYWAYS umm... You're really shallow.

and no one is special... everyone's the same and you're no exception.

NO.I didn't know what the heck a "sorority" was and I only found out during rush, etc... I joined because I got along so well w/ the girls and I'm really comfortable with them.. I thought it was some kind of club because of their community service etc. so I joined for that cause too and NOT because of some reputation. I DON'T care about reputations...I don't have one... and there are so many kinds of Fraternities and Sororities: Professional, Service, Multicultural, Social, Honor Societies, etc. SO, don't even assume that "we're trying to be like them." That kinda hurts. Like a slap in the face...to the tenth power.

P.S.- I support Theta Nu Xi

Greetings, all.
I notice that several remarks have been made without the user doing any prior research, therefore I will direct those of you who believe that multicultural sororities are a "joke,"and those of you who say that we are the " colored" girls that weren't given bids by the "real" sororities, to Theta Nu Xi, Multicultural Sorority, Inc.'s national website, which is http://www.thetanuxi.org.

Here is the actual answer on the national website that I believe some of you have been asking:

Q: Why do you call yourselves multicultural and what does that stand for?

The seven original founders saw a need for a sorority that crossed the societal boundaries of race, religion, culture, and class. Although part of their vision included creating a sisterhood that physically exemplified the transcendence of those boundaries, their primary goal was to bring women together who believe in the ideal of multiculturalism and want to promote multiculturalism in their everyday lives. While other Greek organizations are and continue to grow more diverse, our organization explicitly seeks members with multicultural ideals and interests; we seek to use our sorority as a vehicle to educate the surrounding campus and community on issues of diversity. We recognize that diversity is not limited to race, and we are proud to say we have achieved a sisterhood which is quite diverse with respect to not only race, but religious heritage, geographic origin, socio-economic class, nationality, political ideology, and even choice of major and career. Ultimately, however, we call ourselves multicultural because the one belief we share is that there is inherent value in discovering, understanding, and appreciating all the ways in which people are different from each other. It is for this reason that we differentiate ourselves, in name and in purpose, from other greek organizations with the word "Multicultural."

I sincerely hope that some of you have become more enlightened about Multicultural Greek Letter Organizations, and I encourage you to always do your homework before making invalid statements. If you have any more questions, please email thetanuxi@yahoo.com.

May I also please remind everyone not to confuse "culture" with "race." They are two entirely separate concepts, and one cannot be used to substitute the other. Thank you for your time.

La Femme
