From
www.apo.org:
The Florida Emergency Management Agency is looking for volunteers on three levels. The first level is financial. When there is a natural disaster, let alone two within a month, the number one need is financial assistance. The best way to provide any donations or fundraising dollars is through the Red Cross or the Salvation Army.
The second level of support is for volunteers in the short term. Any APO members who are able to provide Service should report to a Volunteer Registration Center. More Centers are being opened every day. You can visit
www.volunteermatch.org to find the latest Center locations. This level of service is geared toward our members in the Southeast who do not need accommodations. If you live in or near Florida, and or you know people who you can stay with, they can use your help.
The third level is long-term rebuilding. In the months ahead there will be lots of assistance needed to rebuild homes, parks, camps and playgrounds. Further directions on these long-term projects will be available from the website above once basic services are returned to normal. If you are able to Serve we would like to know about it so we can highlight your efforts in a future issue of the Torch & Trefoil.
