Question Alumnae Relations Ideas

Hi Everyone! :-)

I'm running for Alumnae Relations officer for next year. I have a few key ideas to use in my interview (and hopefully carry out!) but I wanted to stop by Greek Chat and see if anyone had any ideas or things that went really well concerning alumnae relations in their chapter? (any kind of service for them/events/newsletters...anything really!)

Thanks so much in advance!

Fraternally,
Rebecca

I found the best thing to do for our alumni was to keep them as informed as possible.

- newsletters every semester (including summer!)
- I created email servers so that we can send emails to pertinent people
- website needs to be updated frequently
- Alumni socials/events (not at a club) so that they can interact and talk
- Pledge Class Father/Mother... find an older alumni (usually in their 40's or older) who can act as a parental figure for the pledges. It relates the pledges to the fact that Greek is for life and it relates the alumni to the younger chapter members. This is even better for Mother's/Father's day stuff too, because then they get loads of presents and flowers and birthday presents.

Most important thing that I have found...keep in touch with them even if they can't make it to events, it makes them feel important!!

Set up a yahoo group or something where everyone can chat with each other. Some alumnae won't come to events unless they know other people from their time will be there...

Make a concerted effort to gather contact information. When you come in contact with alumni, ask if they have any info on members from their pledge class or from members who were active when they were. The alumni chair for my chapter is doing a fantabulous job this year. I'm amazed every time I get an email -- there are more and more brothers in the "recipients" field every day!

Unhappy

Oh true How This is!

As an Alum, I bust My Rear to get Emails and Keep The (MY) Alums updated.

I have had some tell me if I see an Email from you, I just Delete it!

My Response was, "How In the hell do You keep updated on What is Going On?"

I am the only one who has all of the current email addresses and Brothers Send Things along to Me to Forward.

One of My Brothers from a different Chapter was Pres. of Alum. Assoc. and held it together and people Complained so He quit and it hasnt been the same since.

Is it a lot hard work, Yes it is!

Never to forget, As Alum Chair, never forget to try to Keep Alums updated on Events! They are going to be the ones who can help You in the future! Never forget Us. We after awhile have Money and Time to be of Help!
If You dont want to handle it! But, If You are Like Me, YES YOU WILL!

One Can Grow To many!!!!
