Texas Tech Tekes sued in pledge death
Another Tech Fraternity Sued
The death of a Texas Tech freshman results in another lawsuit filed on another campus fraternity.
The suit filed September 10 against the Texas Tech Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity claims that Clay Warren`s death was due to a weekend of pledge hazing, drinking and sleep deprivation. Warren`s family claims that led to the car accident that killed their son in the fall of 2002.
This petition comes just weeks after a similar suit was filed against the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity.
Warren family attorney Tommy Turner says the national fraternity should have provided transportation to the retreat. "If a fraternity sponsors an event, or sanctions an event or plans an event... then the ... fraternity is responsible for it... and we`ve also alledged the national fraternity is responsible for failing to supervise these guys," he says.
The Warren family is seeking more than $75,000 in damages.
