I don't know about anyone else but I stayed up last night till about 3 in the morning watching the election. My heart SANKED when they said that Bush was the New Elected President, but I feel there are a LOT of SHADINESS going on in Florida. Ballet Boxes were missing, ect... How do you feel about it? I heard that there will be a re-count, so technically Gore hasn't lost....YET

I fell asleep lastnight w/the tv on and all I kept hearing was that BUSH WAS THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE US. I really thought I was having a nightmare. Thank God for the re-count.

There is sooooo much shadiness going on w/this election. Especially concerning minority voters being withheld from voting or being harassed at the polls.

I'll be praying.

They said (on the Today Show)that even if the people in FL elect Gore, the electoral college of that state can over ride that and vote for Bush (thereby making Bush president). Is this true?

What I don't understand is why (on one hand) people say that every individual's vote counts but (on the other hand) the Electoral College can go above what the majority's choice and vote for the other candidate?

WHO'S choice is it REALLY?

_____

On another note, Sylvia Browne (the psychic that is sometimes on Montel Williams' Show) predicted that Gore will be the next pres. Last night at about 3am, I heard that Bush was elected. I immediately thought Ha! that Sylvia is a fraud.... But then I woke up this morning and they said that the race was still undecided, I had to do a double take. Could Sylvia be correct after all? Hmmmmmm.

Isn't it ironic that in all of the 50 states of this union, the one state that will/can determine the president is governed by the candidate's brother? Hmmm.... what a coincidence.

Yall I am so displeased with these results on one hand, but excited on the other.

This is world history going on now! We have never had an election THIS close, and it calls attention to the electoral college process. This is so fascinating to me! I love watching this unfold.

On the other hand, I do not want GWB in office. The Republicans control all other branches and I am very nervous (maybe even scared) about what will happen in the next two. I may actually have to support a candidate's run for the Senate in two years.

I am just glad we had such high African-Americal turnout, and as President Clinton said earlier today, every vote counts.

Shadiness in FL? Yep, there will probably be a recount, and, hopefully, a reform in the Electoral college. This is such a close race, it's cool/scary!!!

I am still in a total state of shock. I went to be bed at midnight on the election, rising early to hear that we had no president yet? There is definetly something shady going on down in Florida. If Al Gore had won his "own" state of Tennessee, this would be over. Well there is one more day to pray to the good Lord above that Al Gore comes out as the winner.

Peace

I must also express my displeasure in the process! In the period of two days I have heard of at least four different accounts of fraud in the states of both Florida and Ohio. What upset me the most is that 15% of African American's votes were thrown out! This country really needs to get it together before we elect anyone else for President!

Sorry about the double posting and I forgot to say the state where 15% of the African American vote was thrown out was Florida!

Hey you all, this is so exciting...this is history in the making. This is a time for us to come together as a people and stop waiting around to see the fate of our country - this is our time to rise above it all.

I'm loving this because there are so many lessons here...math lessons, history lessons, journalism lessons, political science, mass communications, and I could go on and on.

My trust is not in the recounting of the votes but in God...remember in God we trust. Nevertheless, a similar incident happened in 1876 during the Rutherford Hayes and Samuel Tilden election. Hayes (19th president) won by one electoral vote. Tilden was the favorite and had the popular vote though. No coincidence, because history DOES repeat itself, Florida was one of the states in question, along with SC and Lousiana. History gurus correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that WAS the closet race in U.S. History.

Check out www.multied.com/elections/

Again, this is not a time for us to be sitting back nervous, wondering what will happen if..... We need to be planning, strategizing, starting OUR businesses, empowering ourselves economically, educationally, and most of all spirtually.

If Bush does win this election, maybe that will be the push we need to get up off our...you know whats and start making a difference - COLLECTIVELY!
