AI Update
Wow! It has been a long time since I've posted and I am sorry, but things have been very busy for me. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am still in the "hunt" for AI and things are moving along. I will be meeting again with a group on the 8th. This would have been my fourth meeting with them, but one meeting had to be rescheduled due to weather and I had to miss one because I had my final wedding dress "fitting" on the same night! Oh, did I mention that I did get married on the 27th of Dec. Well, now you know! It was great and I am now a married woman.
Anyway, I have been in touch with this one group (s) and I know that the Pres. of this group has contacted a couple of people for reference/recs. letters, so that was sooooooo exciting to hear! I am really looking forward to seeing this group on Sunday and to finding out what will happen next!
Do any of you have advice or input for these reference/rec. letters? I do not doubt that my sources will give me a great ones, but any help would be appreciated!
Well, I have been on GC a lot catching-up after the wedding and craziness and I am glad I could finally update all of you on my progress.
I'll touch base after my meeting on Sunday.

I guess all I will say is that they should be whatever those people choose to say about you. I feel kind of weird giving advice on what they should say.
But good luck!

SmartBlonde-
Thanks, I guess it did kind of come off that I wanted to "tell them what to say" but that's not the case! Opps!! I just thought if I had some ideas/thoughts, I would better understand the "process" Thanks for the advise. I am sure they will do great! They are a big part of my "family" and they know me well!
Thanks again!

Ok, that makes more sense.
I would really say though that the only ones who could help on the process, would be that GLO/chapter. Gamma Phi Beta has a process for AI, but alumnae chapters have the last word on how they do it. As an example, for the last one my chapter had when I was still President, I didn't ask for references but I did email the chapter members who I knew had met the woman and asked for their opinions on her. But she was also a friend of two of our members.
But, if I was asking for the references I would want to know if/how they thought you could help fulfill our ideals or our mission. I'd also ask how they thought you would contribute to the group.
Hopefully that helps a bit more.......

Hi Brooke!
I am excited to hear that you have some good news to share! I just thought I would take the opportunity to bump up your old thread so that you would have a place to post your update!

AI Update
O.K. as promised on the guessing thread, I am back to update you on my exciting news.
I have met with the "group" a few times and have had such a great time at all of the events.......it feels so good to be with these women!
Anyway, as you all know, the AI process is sometimes slow but the time has just flown by. I have been so busy with married life, new home and other group events that I am involved in not to mention work.
So, I had Monday off and I wish I would have come into work just to check my e-mail because in my in box sat an e-mail from the Alumnae President of the group I am hoping to join I could hardly get my fingers to work fast enough to open the thing and read it!!! The e-mail went something like this:
--Congratulations we are happy to have you join us............I still need to fill out some paper work for National about your membership. This may take six weeks but we want you to feel free to join us until all is completed. WE hope to have this ready for initiation in the fall. I have sent your name and address to our Membership person Congratulation again..........
So there it was! I had tears in my eyes and could not wait to tell my husband as he has been sooooo supportive! My heart just smiled
So, the next day in the mail I received some paperwork which I wasted no time completing. I also contacted the Pres. and a couple of the women to tell them THANK YOU and how very excited and proud I am.....They have just been great!!!
Now I guess it is just a matter of the "paper shuffle" and a little waiting, but I can do it.
I just can't tell all of you how blessed I feel! I thank all of you for providing support and insight into this process you have truly made it a memorable, enjoyable process.
Although I have to wait, I know that it will arrive.........I just can't wait to tell you all about my new "home"
I will keep you posted on all things...................
Thanks again to you all. What a GREAT GROUP of "sisters"
In the Home stretch--
Brooke
